The Voice of the Business Community

Our Total Resource Campaign has kicked off!

The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce has celebrated three successful campaigns and this year will be another one for the record books under the leadership of John Best and the many volunteers who work to sell sponsorships to businesses of all sizes within the Chamber!

Sponsorships are sold to businesses during the seven week campaign that will fund all of the Chamber programs for 2015. This helps the Chamber to not only develop effective and meaningful programs, but also allows businesses to allocate their marketing funds for the entire year by selecting which areas they are personally and professionally interested in. The TRC is organized with volunteers selling memberships and sponsorships for the upcoming year's events, publications, programs and electronic media to the business community.

Through this campaign, the Chamber gains members, funding, leadership and greater community awareness. The members increase their business and community awareness by marketing through Chamber programs and products and, the entire community benefits by accelerated growth created by successful well-funded programs.

To date the Chamber has had 116 members sign on as sponsors for events and programs that will take place in 2015. Thank you! Together, the Chamber can continue to grow your businesses and market an even greater Wayne County.

A word from this year’s

TRC Chair, John Best

“I want to take a moment to tell you why the Chamber is doing what

it’s doing. The Chamber is in business for your business. It is dedicated

to advancing the prosperity of all its partners in Agriculture, Defense,

Industry and Education. From the non-profits to small businesses to

large corporations, the Chamber’s sole purpose is to make you and

your business more successful.

The Chamber sponsors over 113 annual events, marketing and

advertising opportunities for your business, networking, legislative

representation, and is the leading voice for our business community. I

believe that the Chamber is just getting started and

the best is yet to come.

Remember, where there is

unity there is always victory.”

The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that twenty-three local business professionals have been accepted into the 2014-2015 Leadership Wayne program. Kate Daniels, Wayne County Chamber of Commerce President, stated “As an alumnist of the program, I am excited to see the diverse representation of this year’s class. This program has been around 30 years with over 485 alumni and is continually looking for new ways to improve and add value.” Help us welcome the participants in this year’s class!

Charlotte Watson with Wayne Memorial Hospital commented “I am thrilled to be a part of this program. Through the program, I was able to

create network opportunities that will remain with me for years to come.” Charlotte is the chair of the

Board of Regents, a group of Leadership Wayne alumni that manage the program. The year began with an Opening Retreat at Ft. Caswell, Oak Island where participants were able to get to know one another while participating in team building and

leadership skills development exercises. They also began reviewing applications for their class project.

The class project is another component to the program where class members must work together

as a team to plan & implement a project that will benefit the community.

Check out a few tips from the most recent issue:

Keep your mental focus sharp by scheduling breaks.

Studies show we have a limited capacity for concentrating over extended time

periods. Fatigue sets in and even if we aren’t yawning or nodding off, we be-

come more vulnerable to distractions, such as social media. Don’t worry about

losing momentum — refocusing after a break forces the mind to consider the

big picture about your objective, improving productivity. Block out two

planned 15-minute intermissions each day, one in the mid-morning and the oth-

er in the mid-afternoon. Step away from your desk and electronic devices and

do something active while allowing your mind to drift.

Boost your marketing response with this formula.

Marketing guru Ray Jutkins devised the “40-30-20-10” formula for success in

marketing campaigns. That is, 40% of a campaign’s success is dependent on

identifying and reaching the right audience; 30% depends on having an offer

that interests people; 20% depends on the quality of your creative

efforts, such as copy and design; and 10% depends on the choice and mix of

media.
