Each of us as a Christian has a role to play in the Lord’s church. Service is at the core of living in Christ and we have all been called to serve as Jesus served. Our differing gifts and abilities are from God and are to be used for the good of His church.

As we strive to follow the Biblical example of the church we note that certain ones are set apart for certain works. Oversight of God’s people is placed in the hands of elders or shepherds. In Timothy and Tituswefindqualificationsforevangelistsorpreachers.Wealsofindtheserviceofdeacons.

This Sunday evening wi l l be our “Commissioning Service” for our new deacons. We have been identifying our needs, and have put forward men who can meet those needs. We have also been askedtoassuretheyqualifyasdeacons,according to the Scriptures, and can meet the specificneeds identified.Now isourtime to show our support of these men and their ministries and ask for God’s blessing.

I hope you will be here Sunday evening as we come together as a congregation toaffirmournewdeaconsandtheirworksof service, and ask God to guide and empower their efforts.
