ALL SAINTS SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 6 Since the 9th century the Christian Church has celebrated Novem-ber 1 as All Saints’ Day. This is a special day for remembering those of God’s family who have gone before us. On Sunday, No-vember 6, we will celebrate this day as All Saints’ Sunday at both our 9:00 Traditional and 11:00 Praise Services. On this day we will recognize and remember all those who were born into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism, affirmed their faith in their Confirmation and departed to their reward in God’s heavenly King-dom since last All Saint’s Day, in our prayers and by listing their names in the bulletin.

We rejoice with those who are born anew among us. We celebrate those who have af-firmed their faith. We know that many of you still experience the sorrow which comes as you think of your loss. We pray that you may find comfort and strength in the promises of our God. We know that God walks with us through all the times and seasons of our lives, and is always present.

If you have a loved one who has passed away this past year and is not a member of Trinity, but would like their name included in the bulletin, please contact the church office by October 23 with their name.

We hope that you will be able to be present at either of our worship services on Sunday, November 6, as we share together our faith in God.

Page 2: The Trinity Lutheran...On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed a list of 95 theses (items to be debated) on the door of the church at Wittenberg. His intent was to reform his church,

“The gifts he gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowl-edge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-13).

Lil and I were called to the or-dained ministry of the Lutheran Church, one of us in Sioux Falls, SD and the other in Fre-mont, NE. We met at Luther Seminary in St. Paul Minnesota as we began our studies for the ministry in 1972. We were married December 29, 1973 and were ordained as the first couple in the ALC August 29, 1976. In the 40 years since, we have served in several different places in Wisconsin, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa. In each place we have sensed the call of pastoral leadership-walking with people in their faith, teaching, preaching, bringing the sacraments in worship-to equip the saints for the work of ministry and for the building up of the

body of Christ. This has always been very satisfying work as God has led us through the years.

Lil and I want to thank all of you who attended the celebration of our 40 years in ministry on Sunday evening, for the greetings of congratulations, and the gifts that you have shared with us. It

was special that our daughter, Jamie and g r a n d - d a u g h t e r , Casey and son, Cory could be here to celebrate with us. The presence of B ishop Rodger

Prois, of the Western Iowa Synod, ELCA and Bishop Alan Scarfe, of the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa also made the event very meaningful. We want to send thanks to the many area pastors that attended or have sent their con-gratulations our way. A great big thank you to Jim Jensen for the beautiful dis-play of pictures and memories in the narthex and the humorous and histori-cal path down memory lane. We also want to thank Jeff and Teresa Johnson and the members of the church council

A Word From the Pastor for the preparation and serving of the delicious meal of pulled pork sand-wiches, cheesy potatoes, and baked beans. The best! A big thank you to The Country Roads Parish who attended and provide cake and ice cream for dessert.

This celebration was indeed a memora-ble event and a true joy to celebrate with our church family. Thank you very much.

Pastors Paul and Lil

The Star Power blocks use the color wheel. To make our stars sparkle, all backgrounds for the 12 blocks are black. Each month’s block emphasizes a different color on the color wheel and a different technique. The instructions for the fabric needed will be given to you when you sign up.

If you know how to sew, you can quilt . . . It’s FUN!

Easy Tithe is now here at Trinity! This is an easy alternative option to your giving in the offering as well as other special gifts you may want to give. It is similar to Sim-ply Giving with a whole lot more options:

It’s available as an option on our website: trinitylutheranchurchsc.org. You can set up your own recurring giving or one time giving using either a credit/debit card or E-check using the routing number

and account number of your bank account. (As required by the PCI Security Council and all processing banks, Easy Tithe is a Level 1 Certified PCI Compliant Service Provider.)

These are just a few options available at this time: • General Fund 2016 • Building Fund 2016 • Pastor’s Fund • Christmas Dinner

There is an app available for smart phones and tablets. You can do text giving to 712-227-2600. Simply text the amount you want to give. At that point a contact website will come up for

you to register your card information. Once you are registered, your gift will be accepted. Each time that you give, your informa-tion will be there and you can specify what account you want to give to.

All of these are easy ways in addition to envelope giving to support your church. If you have any questions you can call the church office or ask Pastor Paul or one of the members of the Stewardship Committee. We thank you for your continued support.

Simply Giving is also a way of giving through your bank or credit card with a direct deposit into Trinity’s account.

Both options are an easy way to give while on vacation and you don’t have to worry about writing a check and remembering your envelope on Sunday morning. Call the church office at 258-0519 for more information.

Your donation will cover the painting supplies and fund-raiser, and you will get to take your beautiful painting home with you!

Watch for the sign-up sheet starting
