ALL SAINTS SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 3
Since the 9th century the Christian Church has celebrated November 1 as All Saints’ Day. This is a special day for remembering those of God’s family who have gone before us. On Sunday, November 3, we will celebrate this day as All Saints’ Sunday at both our 9:00 Traditional and 11:00 Praise Services. On this day we will recognize and remember all those who were born into the Kingdom of God through Holy Baptism, affirmed their faith in their Confirmation and departed to their reward in God’s heavenly Kingdom since last All Saint’s Day, in our prayers and by listing their names in the bulletin.
We rejoice with those who are born anew among us. We celebrate those who have affirmed their faith. We know that many of you still experience the sorrow which comes as you think of your loss. We pray that you may find comfort and strength in the promises of our God. We know that God walks with us through all the times and seasons of our lives, and is always pre-sent.
We hope that you will be able to be present at either of our worship services on Sunday, November 3, as we share to-gether our faith in God.
REMEMBER . . . To Give Thanks
Thanksgiving Eve Service at Trinity beginning at 7:00.
We will worship and give thanks during our
Thanksgiving Eve Service on Wednesday, November 27.
Let us all gather together to ask the Lord’s
blessing on our families and our world.
CONFIRMED ON OCTOBER 27
Five of our youth publicly affirmed their faith in God and in their de-sire to be a part of the ministry of Trinity during the 9:00 worship service on Reformation Sunday.

The Sunday School offering and birthday
money collected this year will go toward
buying a cow or chickens, etc., for a fam-
ily as part of the ELCA Good Gifts pro-
gram.
Offering barn boxes were handed out
to the kids a couple Sundays ago. If your family didn’t
receive one, please ask their teacher. We hope your family
will drop your loose chains in the barn throughout the next
months, and then we will have everyone return their barn
boxes in April.
We are making a difference in one or more families by par-
ticipating in this program, so please remember to send of-
fering and birthday money along with your child(ren) to Sun-
day School. The more we collect . . . the more we can help!

YOUTH GROUP WITH EARL
ALL High School & Middle School youth are encouraged to
come together on Sunday mornings during the Sunday School
hour.
Our youth are busy with school activities, but we hope that on
Sunday morning you can take time out and get together with
other Trinity youth.
PLEASE NOTE!
Our Sunday School Christmas
program rehearsals began on Sun-
day, October 20. Our 1st-6th grad-
ers are preparing for another fun
musical called CAKE (Christmas Acts of Kindness Experiment).
This will again require a bigger com-
mitment from our youth to learn
their parts and songs, but our kids
are up to the task!
Natalie (Olorundami) Hughes is directing our program and
Mary Olorundami is choreographing their movements, so it
should be another outstanding presentation by our youth.
If your child has not received the CD with music & dialog,
please let Natalie or the church office know. They need to
be listening to the songs to learn them quickly.
THANK YOU to everyone who took tags from the CAKE GIVING TREE to purchase the personal care items needed
for our Sunday School project. Everything needs to be
brought in by Sunday, November 3, as our Middle &
High School youth will be preparing the bags that day,
and they will be handed out to the families at Mid-
Town Family Community Center during their food pantry
on Friday, November 8. If you have used blankets to
donate, we can hand those out as well.
Please plan to attend the 10:00 service on Sunday, De-
cember 8, for a special Christmas service of music from
all of our choirs, with the message given by our Sunday
School youth. There will also be CAKE served afterward!

UPCOMING YOUTH FUND-RAISERS Our youth are starting over with fund-raising for the
next Youth Gathering in 2021, which will be held in
Minneapolis. They are excited and look forward to
another week of inspiration and fun with other ELCA
youth groups.
Their first fund-raiser will be during the TLC Holiday
Bazaar. They will be selling drinks, bake sale items,
goodie jars and gift bags throughout the day, so stop
in and check out their gift ideas.
They will be selling fun Christmas gift ideas during
the Goodie Extravaganza on December 14 as well!

NEIGHBORHOOD
CHRISTMAS DINNER
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 15
Trinity will again host the Neighborhood Christmas Dinner. This dinner provides many opportunities for all of us to be involved with families in our neighborhood through wrapping of presents, joining in a meal with our neighbors, food preparation, food serving, music and clean-up.
The Neighborhood Dinner is a partnership activity with Midtown Community Center and our members have been involved in this project in the past several years. Each and everyone involved felt it was one of the most joyous experiences in which they have been involved.
Please watch for the sign-up sheet starting in No-vember. The dinner will be held on Sunday, De-cember 15, with preparation day on Saturday, De-cember 14.
Thank you everyone for your contributions during our monthly Dollar Sunday collection for the dinner. This process provides us with ample money to purchase the food without asking in December for last minute contributions. Planning ahead truly does pay off!
DOLLAR SUNDAY/FOOD CART SUNDAY - NOVEMBER 3
Don’t forget to bring your $1 on Sunday, November 3, for our Dollar Sunday donation to the neighborhood dinner in December. Also, remember to bring nonperishable food items for our Food Cart which will be do-nated to Midtown Family Community Center.
The Mission Committee has been very busy working on several projects:
Soles for Souls is a very productive project. Our congregation has donated 2,159 pairs of shoes to the organization to be refur-
bished and distributed to people in need. Thanks to Jeri and Russ Snyder for transporting the shoes.
Ronald McDonald House Pop Tabs—Remember to keep your pop tabs and bring them to church to place in the box in the
narthex. They are always very appreciative when we drop them off.
Food Cart - Please remember to bring nonperishable food items for our Food Cart, which will be donated to Midtown Family
Community Center.
Hy-Vee Receipts - The box to collect Hy-Vee receipts is out on the table in the narthex. The start date of the receipts must be
August 1, 2019, and they can be collected through April 30, 2020. Any receipts that you have collected over the summer months or earlier in the year will not be accepted.
WARMING SHELTER, located at 916 Nebraska Street, is a temporary emergency shelter during the winter months for those
who are homeless. If you would like to donate to The Warming Shelter, please give directly to the Warming Shelter on Nebraska Street. For more information on how you can volunteer in other ways, please contact Joe Twidwell at 712-253-9273.
The Mission Committee is always looking for new members to join us. Please contact Jane at church or any of the Mission Commit-tee members if you are interested. We’d love to have you join us.
CHRISTMAS GIFT-GIVING
FOR MID-TOWN FAMILIES
Trinity’s Mission Committee has met with Janet and Cheryl at Mid-Town Family Community Center, and it has been decided we will continue the gift-giving this year as we have in the past.
We have quite a few gifts left from last year, plus they have some gifts as well, so they will take care of every-thing the week of the Christmas Dinner so the parents can come and select the gifts for their children.
Santa & Mrs. Claus will also fly in from the North Pole to talk with the kids and hand out gifts on the day of the din-ner. I’m sure they will enjoy the yummy turkey dinner to fill their jolly bellies!
If anyone would like to come and help wrap gifts that week, feel free to call the church office to find out the days/times that week that you can help.
Thank you to our Mission Committee for making the extra effort to share God’s love with our neighbors this year.

Demonstrate Your Thankfulness this Season
Each holiday season, Trinity anticipates and relies on a seasonal increase in contributions. It is through the dona-tions of every individual and family in the congregation that we are able to carry on our work now and throughout the year.
If you need a convenient way to make recurring contribu-tions or plan to make an additional gift before the end of the year, we encourage you to check out our electronic giving options. As the pace of life speeds up around the holidays, you may find electronic giving a most welcome way to make contributions.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETINGS
2020 BUDGET The Finance Committee (Bill Burrack, Christy Clark, John Den Beste, Mary Ellen Hartman, Dan Holzrichter, Brady Hughes, Sarah Kleber and Treasurer Linda Phillips) has spent the last month evaluating Trinity’s income and spending along with Trinity’s needs in the coming year, with the hopeful possibility of hiring a Pastor. With this in mind, the 2020 budget was prayerfully drafted. The proposed budget was then presented to the Council at their regularly scheduled October 15 meeting. With Council’s approval, this budget is now ready to be presented to our Trinity fam-ily.
In order to allow for plenty of discussion time, the con-gregation will have two choices of meetings to attend. The evening meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 12, beginning at 5:30 and the other meeting choice will be Wednesday, November 13, at Noon. Since we will be holding two separate meetings for the budget presentation, congregational members will sign for a ballot. Prior to these meetings, the proposed 2020 budget will be available in Jane’s office.
Please mark these dates on your calendar and make every effort to attend one of these meetings. It is important that our members know and understand the planning and budget process for 2020.
CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE
The Call Committee has been working diligently to inter-view a potential pastoral candidate. This person lives over 10 hours away, so we had the initial interview via a Zoom meeting. The committee all decided that we would like to talk with this candidate again, so we are in the process of bringing them to Sioux City for a face to face interview. We are hoping to get this completed by the end of November.
As soon as we have further information, I will update the congregation. In the meantime, please continue to pray for the Call Committee and this candidate to help both parties see if this is the direction that God is leading Trinity.
Kerry Patterson, Chair
