The giant planets were instrumental in the formation of the Solar System and of Earth as a suitable

place to live.

Gravity Lab: In this full-body interactive experience how gravity attracts and deflects masses, illustrating how bodies interact with each other in the Solar System.

Friend or Foe: Place giant planets in a gravity simulation and try to get icy bodies to deliver water to Earth. If a giant planet

Planet Plunge: Create a probe and launch it into Jupiter’s crushing atmosphere. How close to the core can you get?

Seeing the Unseen: Compare what your image looks like in visible and infrared light; two of the wavelengths used to study the giant worlds and other objects in the Universe.

Magnetic Attractions: Fire charged particles at Jupiter’s magnetic field to learn how they behave and where they go.

Moon Dance: By flexing a model of Jupiter’s moon Io, learn why this

Extreme Seasons: Using a virtual orrery

compare how seasons on Earth and Uranus differ.

Occultation: The rings around all of the giant planets, except Saturn, are hard to see. Discover how scientists detect them using the light from a distant star.
