>A NEW REPORT FEATURING EXPERTS IN THEIR OWN WORDS

INTRODUCTION In 2014, social media seeped further into the fabric of our daily lives as

evidenced by its increased use around the Sochi Olympics, the World Cup, The

Academy Awards and countless other pop culture and social events throughout

the world. As a new year dawns many wonder what will be the most notable

social media trends to emerge in 2015.

We put that very question to a hand-selected group of savvy social media

marketers from various industries and backgrounds. On the following pages, you’ll

find their perspectives on what to look out for in 2015.

“I’d say that 2015 will be all about DATA.

How social media marketers can tap new

tools, evolutions and system convergences now

available and possible to better target and

engage with consumers as well as track impact

more closely to purchase.”

“In 2015, social media marketing will be all about

maturation and innovative social advertising. It

seems weird to those of us that work in social

media every day, but in reality, social media

is just starting to move out of the early adopter

phase for most of the market. As more companies

start to get on board, we’ll see them want to

become smarter about it and move away from

simple metrics like “followers” and “likes” etc., to

deeper marketing value and understanding. As that

happens though, there will be a lot more fighting for

attention of the consumers, which I think will show

a rise in companies using ways to pay to promote

themselves and get them in front of the right people,

social advertising. Marketers will stop looking at

social as just a “free” medium and start coming

up with ways to promote themselves that aren’t just

spray and pray methods, but more targeted ads that

are relevant and useful (or entertaining) to the exact

people they’re targeting.”

“As we move into 2015, here are a few trends which

I think will lead the way:

» As with every year, social media will get much smarter

and more personalized, and by the end of 2015,

wearable technology will be mainstream human nature.

» Marketers will pay more attention to a mobile-only

experience.

» As Facebook becomes more difficult for brands to ‘be

seen,’ I feel that Twitter will become much more relevant,

mainly because they are doing the opposite, making it

easier for Brands to ‘be seen.’

» ‘Selling’ will become less relevant, and brands will

concentrate on ‘content marketing’ much more.

» Real-time marketing will definitely be the norm when it

comes to communication with customers.

In closing, I think that once we get through 2015,

as the world gets smaller and smaller, we need

to use our social media exposure for good, and

concentrate on giving back to good causes that

need our help.”
