Your SessionThere are two parts to your visit to our Judith Kerr exhibition. During the session, all pupils will have a chance to explore the multisensory, immersive worlds based on beloved books by Judith Kerr. They will hear the story of The Tiger before going off to discover Mog’s worlds and other favourite characters. Each class will also take part in a related workshop exploring stories, dreams and all things cat, with take-home elements and plenty of fun and games.

Facilitation

Meet our Story Builders! Our team of professional facilitators are trained to develop creativity and explore stories with a wide range of children. They have a wealth of experience in drawing out children’s ideas and imagination, leading immersive play and exploration, and engaging children through story. Each class will be assigned a story builder who will be with them throughout their experience.

DifferentiationWe will ensure that the session is suited to your pupils’ ages and needs. The workshop is specifically designed to work for both younger and older children, increasing the complexity of the activities for each progressive age group. The exhibition space itself has been created to reflect the interests, abilities and requirements of children from Nursery through to Year 2.

Before you get hereYou don’t have to cover anything specific in class before you come to Discover. Your Story Builder will lead the class through everything they need to know. However, it is unlikely that children will come without some existing knowledge of at least one of the stories. Reading, sharing and discussing the books in advance of your visit will further enhance the experience for your class. Here are some of the books that can be found in the exhibition:

These sessions are suitable for children with SEND and our Story Builders can adapt delivery to best fit pupils’ needs. (Please ensure you pass on all related SEND information at the point of booking – our Story Builders need to know in advance of any changes or adaptation needed for the session.)

On the dayFor practical information relating to your session, please consult the booking confirmation pack you will have received. During your session each pupil will have the opportunity to explore books, play and discover new immersive worlds. They will co-create an original story and all sessions include simple, effective take-home activities. During their visit they will not have time to complete these – the session is a starting point and pupils can complete their work at home or back at school.
