Chapter I : Presentation of the IIT
1) Overview
The IIT is a private institution of higher education approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific
Research (approval N ° 02-2012)
It is part of the North American Private University which includes the ISB (International School of Business) as well.
It is founded by Tunisian academics who received their education in North American universities and by industrial
investors from Sfax such as SOPAL, SIVO, AMI, ACIA SOUTH, SKG, Tunisia Gold, CTM, Teamwill Consulting and
Tricomode. Its main objective is to spread an innovative teaching model as the North-American and European models.
To achieve this goal, the IIT signed agreements with North American universities such as Sherbrooke university and
the Moncton University and with French universities such as EPSI of Lyon and Grenoble and the Ecole Central Nantes.
2) Majors and Programs

3) Governance
It is ensured by 4 bodies:
The Board of Directors
The Scientific Board
The Board of Trusties
The administrative and educational staff:
- Director
- Advisors
- The manager of the students’ affairs department
- Administrative and financial management
- Purchasing department
- Technical department
- communication department
- Library
- The departments’ heads: At the head of each department or educational program, a person in charge
acts as a facilitator between the teachers and the management.
4) Faculty Members
The faculty members are researchers from different disciplines:
- Full-time faculty members who are well qualified and experienced and who provide academic and administrative follow-up. - Faculty members from partner universities are it local or foreign, and experts to foster practice.
Many scientific and academic criteria are required and monitored on a daily basis by the Direction of the Institute. The latter is inviting the most qualified and experienced teachers: professors, lecturers, assistant professors and expert engineers. In addition, a set of sophisticated evaluation mechanisms are put in place to ensure a good quality of teaching.
Chapter II: Education, Exams and Trainings
1) Admission
To be accepted at IIT, you should sit for a competitive examination and an interview. It is open to new baccalaureate
holders and students willing to continue their studies.
* New baccalaureate holders can choose between:
A scientific preparatory cycle for engineering studies: it leads to the National Competition for Engineering Schools
organized each year by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
- Bachelor degree LMD (3 years studies)

- Architecture degree (durée des études 6 ans)
* Enrolling for the first-year engineering can be accessed by:
• Students who succeeded in the national competition of the second year in the preparatory cycle whether studied in
a private or a public school/ or those in the pending list.
• Bachelors (license– LMD).
• A university first degree DUPC
* Registering in the master degree:
• Bachelor graduates (licence – LMD).
• Holders of a master degree (bac+4)
• Holders of an engineering degree
2) Registration file
The accepted student should provide the following documents for registration:
Registration form (found in the students’ affairs department- or to download from the web site) however, the pre-
inscription can be done remotely through the internet
• A copy of the ID for Tunisian students and of the passport for international candidates.
* A Certified copy of the Baccalaureate diploma and any diploma obtained after it.
• 5 envelopes with stamps and the parents’ address.
3) Examinations
The students are tested continuously in each subject and they obtain different grades (oral, test, mini project, project
and semester exam). If a student does not succeed in the main session, he sits for the catch-up session.
For each subject, there are credits awarded whether for engineering cycles or architecture.
4) Attendance
Students must attend all the courses (integrated courses, practical work, internships, seminars, company visits).
Attendance is monitored by faculty members and the students’ affairs department.
If the student is absent for illness or force majeure, the student must submit a medical certificate or proof to the
students affairs department on day at maximum after the beginning of the absence.
It should be noted that medical certificates are not systematically considered a proof of absence. Any unjustified
absence from a test, assignment, examination or any other type of testing is sanctioned by the zero mark.
The International Institute of Technology
The Student Guide
2019
5
If the number of unjustified absences at a subject equal to or exceed 20% of the load, the student is systematically
eliminated from the main session.
If the absence is repetitive and recurrent, the student’s file is submitted to the director of the institute to decide if
the incident should be brought to the Disciplinary Board or to exclude him/her.
However, in case of absence for proved force majeure, the Director of the Institute is the only one entitled to take
the appropriate decisions.
5) Discipline
Discipline is important at IIT. Mutual respect must govern all relationships between students, teachers and all
Institute staff.
Any breach of the rules of conduct or prevention of normal flaw courses, fraud or an attempt of fraud in exams can
forward the offending student before the Disciplinary Board of the Institute.
The sanctions can be: warning, blame, cancellation of the result of a subject or session, exclusion for a period or
definitively from the Institute.
The first 3 sanctions can be taken by the Director without going through the Disciplinary Board. In the case of a final
exclusion for misconduct deemed serious by the Disciplinary Board, the student is not reimbursed the tuition fees.
6) Internships
All the students in engineering and architecture cycles must perform internships: initiation internship (for 1st year
students), perfection internship (for 2nd year students) and Graduation projects (for 3rd year students).
For students in the architecture cycle, the 6th year is entirely devoted to the graduation internship in an architect's
office or consulting cabinet.
These internships can be carried out in Tunisia or abroad at the students' intention and the availability of cooperative
foreign universities.
IIT students can spend a part of their curriculum (one or two semesters) at one of these cooperative foreign
universities. The designed period should be approved by the IIT.
7) Students’ life at the IIT
Since its creation, IIT has encouraged all scientific, cultural and sporting activities. The latter are carried out through
specialized clubs.
At the beginning of each academic year, a club day is organized. It is primarily intended for new engineering students
so that they can join the club of their choice or create new clubs if they wish.

In addition to their budget, some clubs resort to contacting industrial companies for sponsorship to organize large-
scale events.
Some events are organized by the IIT clubs such as ‘Welcoming Day’ and ‘IIT Clubs Day at’ the beginning of each
academic year. These ceremonies help new students, especially internationals, to integrate in the traditions of the
region.
In addition to regular activities, these clubs actively participate in competitions organized either at the IIT or in other
academic institutions.

2) Scholarships
The IIT accords four types of scholarship: excellence, performance, glory social and specific needs after the commission
meeting and with reference to the following modalities:
Scholarship Number of
scholarships/ academic year
Sum Conditions
Excellence Maximum 30% of the students’
number 30% of the tuition fees
Having an average equal or greater than
16/20
Performance Maximum 30% of the students’

Notes:
- The scholarship is valid only for the on-going academic year and for a number of students that do not
exceed 10% of the newly registered.
- The scholarships’ requests should be submitted, in maximum, after one week of the registration.
- A commission appointed by the director shortlists candidates and sets up the final list.
3) Sponsorship and coaching
In 2017-2018, and aside from the scholarships, the IIT started some new procedures to support students. They are
sponsorship and coaching:
Sponsorship
Sponsorship aims to support students financially by an industrial or a service company. It pays fully or partially the
tuition fees during the three years of the engineering cycle.
The company intending to sponsor some of its workers coordinates with the IIT to short-list top-ranked candidates.
The company sets two conditions:
- The selected student and the sponsoring company should sign an exclusive employment contract in which they
agree about a certain period of time.
- The selected student must ensure good educational results and behave politely.

Coaching
Coaching is another form of support. In this context, the industrial company requests that one or more IIT students
realize an invention project. For this reason, an agreement is signed to define the rights of each party.
Based on the scope of the project, the selected student / students are required to devote the two internships
(initiation and perfection), the end-of-year project and possibly the graduation project to the realization of the idea.
