All food items are to be clearly labelled and marked if it is vegetarian, vegan or gluten-free.
***NO NUTS PLEASE!***
You will be notified by your Class Rep next week as to where your baked goods are to be dropped off.
Please note: If you are not fond of baking but would like to contribute, we will gladly accept "homemade" store-bought goods as well.
Proceeds from this event will go to support our charities.

This year, many of our Primary teachers identified effective technology integration as an area for further professional development.
At Stonehill, we understand that to be truly effective, technology and pedagogical practices need to be intertwined and the focus should be on learning, rather than technology. We believe that learning comes first, but understand that technology is an essential tool to enhance, accelerate or transform learning in our classrooms.
Our school has its own Google Apps for Education (GAFE) domain and our students make full use of the Google Suite of Applications to collaborate, communicate and create. To further develop their understanding of how GAFE can be used to support learning, a number of our teachers recently completed training modules followed by a three hour online examination to become Google Certified Educators.
This certification is designed for teachers who wish to further develop their ability to successfully integrate a wider range of Google for Education tools and other technologies in order to transform their teaching practice. We would like to congratulate the teachers above for successfully completing the Google Certified Educator examinations and thank them for taking the additional time to focus on improving the quality of learning and teaching in the PYP at Stonehill.

More than 20 pr imary students participated in The Global Codeathon on Saturday 6th May.
The Global Codeathon is a coding conference for students from Grades 1-6. The students spent the afternoon learning how to code, collaborating with other young coders and creating their own programs. The students also met virtually with students from other international schools around the world through a video conference.
The Global Codeathon used Google Hangouts to connect in real time. This allowed participating schools to keep an eye on what other schools were doing and even share their screens for everyone to see. The students had a great afternoon of coding.
We would like to thank Ms. Blessina for organising this event and Mr. Rynne for supporting the students with their coding projects.
Primary Students Participate in the Global Codeathon
These keen coders were participating in their third Global Codeathon
On Saturday morning the Primary Swimming Squad were in action at the pool. Students were completing time trials and practising for the events they will be competing in at the Stonehill Supersplash on the 19th and 20th May. We will be welcoming students from The Overseas School Colombo and the American International School of Chennai for this Event. We would like to thank all parent volunteers who came to help out with the organisation of the time trials.

PYP Host Culture Celebration DayNamaste from the Host culture team! Friday the 5th May was an exciting day for the Primary years students. The day started with a presentation by the Hindi students in the morning assembly. They read out stories from Panchatantra and Mulla Nasruddin tales. We also learnt counting in Hindi through a Hindi poem and got to know many interesting facts about India.
A traditional Indian breakfast was served during the snack break where the students interacted with our support staff, getting to know them better. Students wore traditional Indian clothes and participated in different cultural activities throughout the day. They explored different traditional art forms of India, played Indian games, and also made dosas, pedas and chaats. The aim of these activities were to raise awareness and encourage students to appreciate the cultural life of the local community.
The activities were divided as per age group and organised at different stations. These included the Kho-Kho game, wooden block printing, rangoli, Gond art, pottery, dhurrie rugs, Kahoot quiz on India and Indian culture, making dosas, chaats and doodh pedas.

The IB DP examinations commenced on 28 April and are going well. The examinations will end on Friday 19 May 2017.
Yesterday, the MYP eAssessment examination took place in Mathematics and this morning the M5 students appeared for their English eAssessment. It was a unique experience for them.
The D2 Graduation Ceremony will take place on Saturday, 27 May 2017 in the school premises at 6.30 pm.
Semester 2 examinations: The M1-M5 examinations are scheduled for 1, 2 and 5 June 2017. The D1 examinations will be held from 30 May to 5 June 2017.
The examination timetable and the review/curriculum focus sheets were shared with the students and the parents on 5 May.

I would like to say thank you to those parents who have already sent in nomination forms for electing the new PTA Executive Committee for next year. Nominations will close at midnight on 15th May 2017.
In order to make this process as easy as possible, please see below some frequently asked questions.
Can I nominate myself?Yes you can nominate yourself for one position.
Do I have to nominate a person for each position on the nomination form? No. You can enter nominations for specific positions only. However, please confirm with the nominee that they wish to be nominated.
If I am aware that someone is already nominated for a position, can I nominate someone else for that position?Yes.
What happens if there is more than one person nominated for the role?If there is more than one person for the role, nominees will be contacted. The number of nominations each person has received will be explained. The nominees will be asked if they wish to proceed to a full vote of all parents, or if they wish to discontinue their interest in the post. If they wish to discontinue the person with most nominations will assume the post. If a full vote is required, the person receiving most votes will assume the post.
Who has access to my form? Forms sent to the current President and Secretary of the PTA are confidential.
