In August 2010, Delineo commissioned a report into the state of the Manchester blogosphere. The team examined over 350 blogs in order to compile an extensive investigation into the Manchester blogging community.TRANSCRIPT

This report analyses the state of Manchester’s blogging community
Why?
• Manchester has a thriving blogging community
• The Google search ‘Manchester blog’ returns 84,100,000 results
• In 2006, the first annual Manchester Blog Awards were held to celebrate Manchester’s rich blogging culture
• In 2010, over 200 blogs were nominated for the Manchester Blog Awards Ceremony
This report analyses blogs in six different sectors:
• Manchester-centric
• Personal
• Art and culture
• News and politics
• Music and fashion
• Digital and PR
How the information was collected:
• Over 350 blogs were analysed during August 2010
• Blogs were sourced from blog rolls, personal recommendations and listing websites
• Data accumulated included: the number of posts, the age of the blog, inbound links, blog type, Twitter presence and the inclusion of rich media
• Is hosted on Blogger
• Has 10 posts per month
• Was created in November 2007
