The mornings provide us with an opportunity to help students prepare for life once they have leſt school. We had more than 60 guests in school for the two mornings helping us deliver their specialised areas and the students were, as always, a credit to the school. Topics covered by students were: Fire Safety, Personal Safety, Employment Laws, Alcohol, Smoking, Drugs Ed, SRE Ed, Coping with Stress, Business Enterprise Skills, and Work Related Learning. Many thanks to our guest experts from The Children’s Society, the Fire Service, YES, Business Mentors, STEM Ambassadors, Teenage Cancer Trust, CYO, St Helena Hospice, Women’s Refuge, JCP, Naonal Westminster Bank, Lloyds Bank and ECC. Students enjoyed a wide variety of acvies put on for them and should be commended for their efforts in making the most of the opportunies provided by staff and the guest speakers. Enrichment Mornings are successful because students and staff understand the importance of preparaon for life beyond school and if anyone is able to offer any skills or experse in these areas their support is always welcome. The Year 10 students came to school ‘Dressed to Impress’ looking ready for an interview. They took part in a Work Related Learning project entled ‘First Impressions Count – Skills for Success’. The programme was put together with the voluntary support of some of our Business Mentors: James Cracknell, Leigh Hemings, Miranda Welton and Pat Corps. The programme consisted of learning about how to present yourself at an interview, handshaking, body language, C.V. wring, skills and qualies for employment. The aſternoon involved students having an opportunity to talk to employers from a variety of backgrounds to find out about their careers so far and how they got to where they are now, as well as finding out about the skills, qualies and qualificaons the students may require if they were to follow a similar path. The students had a fantasc experience and learnt a great deal. Their behaviour was exemplary and they were a credit to the school. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the mornings and made them a success. Mrs P Deighton. Head of PSHE Educaon

Enrichment Mornings – 15th & 21st March.

The school’s Enrichment Mornings occurred during the last two weeks of Spring term and were a huge success. The mornings are planned to cover specific areas of the PSHE (personal, social and health and economic education) and the Citizenship curriculum. The mornings provide us with an opportunity to help students prepare for life once they have left school.

Many thanks to our guest experts from The Children’s Society, the Fire Service, YES, Business Mentors, STEM Ambassadors, Teenage Cancer Trust, CYO, St Helena Hospice, Women’s Refuge, JCP, National Westminster Bank, Lloyds Bank and ECC. Students enjoyed a wide variety of activities put on for them and should be commended for their efforts in making the most of the opportunities provided by staff and the guest speakers. Enrichment Mornings are successful because students and staff understand the importance of preparation for life beyond school and if anyone is able to offer any skills or expertise in these areas their support is always welcome.

The Year 10 students came to school ‘Dressed to Impress’ looking ready for an interview. They took part in a Work Related Learning project entitled ‘First Impressions Count – Skills for Success’. The programme was put together with the voluntary support of some of our Business Mentors: James Cracknell, Leigh Hemings, Miranda Welton and Pat Corps. The programme consisted of learning about how to present yourself at an interview, handshaking, body language, C.V. writing, skills and qualities for employment. The afternoon involved students having an opportunity to talk to employers from a variety of backgrounds to find out about their careers so far and how they got to where they are now, as well as finding out about the skills, qualities and qualifications the students may require if they were to follow a similar path.

The students had a fantastic experience and learnt a great deal. Their behaviour was exemplary and they were a credit to the school. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the mornings and made them a success.

NETBALL AND FOOTBALL TRIP TO SPAIN

Over the Easter holidays, 52 of our students travelled to Barcelona to represent Stanway School at both netball

and football against 14 other English schools. There were two boys football teams - u13s and u14s and two

girls netball teams - u13s and u14s. The trip was a huge success with the boys teams coming 1st and 2nd in

their tournaments and the girls teams coming 3rd and 4th in theirs. The students performed really well and they

were a credit to the school in terms of their behaviour and attitude.

Thank you to all of the staff who travelled with me to Barcelona and to those who helped beforehand. Miss S Larkin
