Congratulations to the cricket team who have surged on to become the indoor cricket champions for 2014
-2015. They have had a wonderful indoor season, with some stellar performances with ball, bat and in the
field. Not only are they champions, they also went through the whole season completely unbeaten, out-
performing 5 other schools with superb teamwork and attitude. Throughout, they have been a credit to
the school and we hope this success can continue into the summer season—hopefully we will see the
return of our summer title too!

Vacancy at Happy Bunnies
The children are thoroughly enjoying being ‘Star of the Week’. It is always wonderful to see the huge
effort that the children make with everything they do, knowing that at any point they could be the recipi-
ent of an award that recognises the time and great lengths that they go to to produce some truly fantastic
work.
Although we understand it is a great feeling to have a trophy on the mantelpiece, we are now having seri-
ous problems with them not being returned to school. Please ensure they are returned promptly - it
could be your child that misses out if we do not get them all back.
Returning Star of the Week Trophies
Our new Football coach, Mr Terry starts with us to-
morrow. Many of you will know him from Sholing Foot-
ball Club. Mr Terry is a qualified coach, has all the
required safeguarding checks and is looking forward
to working with the children.
We decided to change as our previous provider was
becoming unreliable and not providing the service
which we felt your children deserved.
Football Coaching on Inspire
The children on Inspire behaved impeccably over
lunchtime today when a fire alarm was set off unexpect-
edly in Happy Bunnies. The fire brigade arrived whilst
the children and staff waited patiently on the play-
ground. The fire brigade were very happy with the
school’s procedures and Happy Bunnies staff have very
quickly reacted to ensure the alarm cannot be accidently
set off again. You would all have been very proud of
your children. Unfortunately lunchtime was interrupted
and for Health and Safety reasons we cannot reheat
food which has been already served. Our cook, Mrs
Napier and her staff, ensured that cold choices were
available for the children whose lunch was interrupt-
ed. I hope you will all understand and appreciate that
staff did their very best in the circumstances

Coffee on Tour
It has been good to see a few different faces at the coffee morn-
ings at Inspire and Endeavour. Remember we are one school now so you are always
welcome at both sites.
The coffee groups are an informal way of getting together with other parents of the
school to talk about everyday issues.
Some of the things we have been talking about:
Book Week - Getting tips about costumes and the successful book swap.
SumDog and BugClub - We were able to address some issues parents raised with re-
gards to access. Have you tried the new website yet? www.activelearnprimary.co.uk
The 6C’s – Parents answered questions to help the school and community develop them further. Thanks to all those that took part, your comments have been passed
onto the PSHE team.
As well as many other discussions and sharing tips along the way.
Come and join in. I look forward to seeing you on Monday mornings after dropping
your child into school.
Monday 20th April – Inspire – Topic: Easter Activities – What did you and your family
do over Easter.
Monday 27th April – Inspire – Topic – Farewell Mrs Barrow – Please come along to say
goodbye. I will miss you all
Monday 4th May – Bank Holiday

Please join us in welcoming a new staff member. Mr Wickins has joined the year 5 team and has the

Over 68% of our parents have now registered with our new communication system which is fantastic
news. We are aiming for 100% if possible but do appreciate that not everyone has access to email.
We will be moving over to parent mail from call parents this half term and will soon start issuing all our
letters and permissions forms through Parent Mail. This will enable you to complete forms online.
With Parent Mail we will also be introducing an online booking system for parents evenings once we
are fully up and running.
Please be reassured that if you do not have access to our online system you will be sent paper copies
of permissions forms and as now can call into either office for a copy of any other letters as you do
now.

What a beautiful couple of weeks of weather we have just had. I hope that everyone had a good break.
The children came back with a real sense of determination and as I have walked around each class today
I have seen so many pupils focused, extending themselves and grappling with the challenges that they
are being given. A fantastic start!
Although there is still work being done on the site at Endeavour we know that when it is finished we will be
safer and smarter! Thank you for your cooperation.
We have recently carried out a pupil survey and are now in the process of analysing the results. The Pupil
Leadership Team will draw up an action plan to address issues that have been raised and will share this
with you in the next newsletter.
The Weather Forecast for St Monica this Summer 1
Bright sunshine will beam across Endeavour and Inspire as all classes will be making sure that the 6C's
are at the heart of all we do.
In Year 6 the weather is set fair and will be hotting up as the pupils head towards May 11th when they will
be sitting their SATs tests. We know they will all do their best and wish them well.
Year 5 will have clear blue skies heralding the arrival of Mr Wickins in Gladstone Class - we welcome him
to the St Monica Team!
For Year 4 the outlook is good, with temperatures rising as the pace of learning increases to produce
stunning outcomes.
Meanwhile in the Year 3 warm days, with wall to wall sunshine, will ensue as they prepare for their visits
to Swanwick.
A heat wave will be experienced in Year 2 as they do all they can to close gaps and meet their targets for
learning in reading, writing and maths.
Year 1 may experience some stormy weather if the Giant gets upset about his beanstalk being scaled or
his golden eggs being stolen!
Finally, the weather in Year R will be some showers with sunny spells (for the farmer) as they wend their
way down to Longdown Farm.
