RIA Board endorsed the recommendation issued by G1 on “the interest of the scientific community and industry for Spain to explore the possibility to join the SKA project as Full Member before the construction phase starts”

Spain has developed a solid scientific community, strategically positioned within the project, working in close collaboration with engineers and industry, ready to:

•Play a major role in SKA1 KSPs in areas of fundamental research in Astrophysics, Astrobiology and Fundamental Physics

•Performing key contributions to the SKA design phase and construction, with impact in society

•E.g.: mechanics, amplifiers, cryogenics, telescope management, time synchronization, FPGAs, correlators/beamforming, advanced /data processing/Big Data, renewable energies, e-Science, etc
