Compulsory education

Pre-school education (Pre-primary education) - organized for children aged 3-6

basic education (Primary education)- organised for pupils aged 6-10 and including grades I to IV.

Lower secondary education - organised in two successive cycles (both compulsory): Gimnaziu – grades V to VIII for pupils

Non-compulsory education

post-secondary non-tertiary education (Şcoala Postliceală) - Post-secondary non-tertiary education ensures further specialised technical vocational education and training for the high school graduates in order to obtain a level 3 vocational qualification.

tertiary education - including university and post-university education. There are autonomous and have the right to establish and implement their own development policies, within the general provisions of the in-force legislation. Starting with 2005/06 academic year, all higher education institutions, private and public, are obliged by the 2004 Law to implement the new 3-cycle structure: Bachelor, Master and Doctorate.

Non-compulsory education

adult education - is provided by public or private institutions, as follows: Educational institutions (high schools and higher education

institutions); Folk-arts schools, people’s universities, community culture

centres, libraries, museums, houses and clubs of the youth and of the trade unions, other public or private institutions – providing mainly non-formal education for the adults;

Centres for continuing vocational training belonging to the system of the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth, the Ministry of Labour, Social Solidarity and Family, the Minister of Culture and Cults, other ministers or subordinated to the local public administration authorities;

NGOs and professional associations.

Non-compulsory education

special needs - school integration of the children with special educational needs is accomplished through the following forms of education:

- Within distinct educational institutions(separated special education);

- Groups and classes for children with special educational needs (partially integrated special education);

- Within groups and classes organised in mainstream education institutions (full integrated special education).

Assessment and qualifications

The vocational competences certification exam is organised for graduates of Liceu – upper cycle in certain profiles and specialisations of the theoretical and specific education and training (military, theological, arts, sports and pedagogical) branches of study. Passing of the exam is confirmed through an attestation certificate. The Atestat profesional (attestation certificate) is meant to both facilitate the insertion of the graduates on the labour market and to support them in continuing their education and training after being employed;

Assessment and qualifications

The examenul de bacalaureat is organised for the high school graduates at the end of grade XII/XIII. Passing of the exam is attested through a

diploma de bacalaureat conferring to the holder the right to compete for a place in tertiary education;

Entrepreneurial education course

Our students have in schedule time a course of entrepreneurial education (1 class/week) in 10 th grade by teachers who teach social and economics subjects (economy, philosofy, logic and argumentation, psychology), sometimes without any real entrepreneurial experience

Transition from school to work We have a department which monitoring

the professional route of our graduates, named “Transition from school to work”

We had a Comenius multilateral project called Connecting Schools with Working Life (2007-2009)

The curriculum aims key-skills concerning the transition from school to work

Transition from school to work We have the “Guidance and counseling”

classes (1/week), taught by any teacher, the last two grades, where we develop to students competences connecting their professional career, for instance:

How do I behave at an interview? Why should contain the Curriculum Vitae? What should contain the personal

portfolio?

Transition from school to work We have some partnerships with the

enterprises from food industry field (milk, bread, beer, bakery, butchers) and from the public food area (restaurants, hotels)where our students perform their practice classes

We had and have some placement projects (Leonardo da Vinci) which offered students the opportunity to practice in other countries (Turkey, Italy, Spain, UK)

“Firma de exercitiu” http://www.roct.ro/ an interactive learning method for

entrepreneurship, a modern interdisciplinary integration and application of knowledge, an approach to teaching and learning that provides conditions for probation and deepening practical skills acquired by pupils / students in training professional.

From 2001 in Romania extension using the "firm" in all the services

profile schools by introducing specific content in the national curriculum in the 2006-2007 school year (under Order 3172/2006)
