something about to happen• Conforms to the typical genre conventions of thriller being to

create tension and suspense within the audience

ending abruptly with the sound effect of the crunching of an apple alludes to the fact that the event that is causing this amount of tension in the future is going to happen quickly and suddenly.

Editing and camera• Shot duration is kept slow and the

camera shows panning and medium shots of scenery that is peaceful, intended to show the audience that everything for the moment is in an idyllic state.

Sound and camera• Extreme dramatic sound effect and fast pan down in the direction

of the protagonist shows the sudden action that was causing tension.

• Sound effects muffled once again to mirror the beginning to remind the audience to link the seemingly idyllic surrounding of the main character to be now infected with this new terror

the high paced adrenaline of the characters and the suddenness of the events that are happening.

• Facial expressions of fear and sadness are apparent as well as the introduction of the threat being a shark in the water.

• Blood and injuries from the characters used to ass fear to the audience and invoke a sense of hopelessness

Editing, camera, and sound • Blackouts used to disorientate the viewer to reflect the emotions of

the character being disorientated. • The voiceover of “I’m not dying here” adds a sense of hope,

excitement, and fear for the main character, due to death being highly probable judging by the surroundings as shown through establishing shots.
