A Glorious Overcoming of Suicide

Dear Beloved Brethren,

I am sending this newsletter to you with a very peculiar

burden. I have an overwhelming burden that someone with a

deep need is to read A Glorious Overcoming of Suicide.Please pray about reading this newsletter very carefully.

Perhaps you are to share this with someone. I have no

explanation as to why this is to be sent, I am only being

obedient.

A Glorious Overcoming of Suicide is a chapter from the

book, Chosen to Honor Thee, a Book of Life. I have just

finished writing this book and just delivered it into theprinters hand. There is a very great likelihood that the book

will be printed and available by the time you receive this

newsletter. It is my sincere prayer that this newsletter willfind its way into the hands of those who are to read it with

the specific purpose that God has burdened me about.Incidentally, we now have a website which we invite you to

A Glorious Overcoming of Suicide

NEWARK, NEW JERSEYIn the summer of 1978, by the direction of the Lord, I cameto live in Newark, New Jersey. At that time Newark was

without a doubt one of the most difficult cities in the United

States. During the 1960s when racial riots took place incities across the United States, the two cities that were the

most violent and dangerous were Detroit and Newark.

Newark was a city that was in great decay.Newark had once been the crown jewel of the insurance

industry. At one time Newark was a very desirable place to

live. It was founded by a missionary Robert Treat as a place

of the new ark and it was necessary to be a Christian to live

in the city of Newark in pre-colonial days. Newark is one of

the oldest cities in America.

The Newark that I moved to was a very dangerous place. In

the north ward there existed a private police force under thedirection of a man named Anthony Imperialle. Anthony

Imperialle was a very serious man. During the riots Anthony

Imperialle had his own tank that he used for law and order. Iwas amazed when I first came across members of his private

police force.

Newark would bring amazing experiences to my life. Duringthe time when I lived in Newark I saw a woman being raped

on the street whom the Living Sacrifice Band would rescue

off the street completely drunken and naked. I encountered

people possessed with devils, saw body parts on the street,and encountered a spirit of lawlessness that was hard to

comprehend. Newark was filled with venereal diseases,

prostitution, drug addicts, robbery, and murder. The first

night I moved into Newark a young man was executed by an

opposing gang and nearly decapitated. That happened two

blocks from where I lived. It seemed that every day there

would be a house that would burn to the ground with fireengines and sirens being a part of every day life. At this time

and for obvious reasons the Lord led a group of us into a

time of fasting and praying. If I have mentioned fasting andpraying often in this book, it is not that I desire to be

unbiblical and sound a trumpet concerning my being

involved in fasting and praying. The truth being told, the

motive is quite the opposite. The reason I share about fastingand praying is that it is linked to events of spiritual power.

We learn that fasting when mixed with prayer and faith

becomes a cure for unbelief that often comes to abide in aChristians heart. It is my hope in reading this book that you

will be drawn into fasting and prayer at a time of such

darkness in the world.

While in this fasting and prayer time while driving home

from a prayer service I saw something that amazed me. As I

was driving up Mt. Prospect Avenue in Newark with a

group of prayer warriors, a young lady ran across the streetand put her thumb up in the air trying to hitch a ride. To my

complete amazement and against all common sense I pulled

over and picked up this hitch hiker. No one in their right

mind picks up hitch hikers in Newark New Jersey at nightwith one exception, the Mighty Holy Spirit.

SATAN INDUCED SUICIDEAs the side of the van door was opened, a very distressedyoung lady came through the door and instantly proclaimed

that satan was directing her to kill herself. She proclaimed

that he was claiming her soul and that she had called out toGod and God was not answering her prayer. In an instant the

company of Christians who were fasting and praying laid

hands on her and proclaimed in prayer the delivering power

of Jesus Christ.

That evening I would share the Gospel with her for about

two hours. I discovered that her name was Donna and I gaveher a Bible that had the church address where I was planting

a church as a pastor. After sharing as much as I could about

the Lord I drove her to her house in Belleville New Jersey, atown that adjoins Newark.

The next morning I received a phone call from her father

who was very upset and was reaching out to me indesperation. His daughter Donna had taken a razor and slit

both of her wrists very deeply, and he found her in the

morning unconscious clutching the Bible I had given her.

From the Bible I had given her, he took the number we hadprinted on the inside and called me. At his request I went to

Clara Maas Hospital to the psychiatric ward where Donna

had been committed.

Out of those visits the Lord began to visit Donna and I

began to discover the background of her problems. Donna

had been involved in lesbianism as well as satanism. She

would attend satanic masses and possessed Anton Levaysunholy bible. When Donna decided to try and make a break

from her involvement with satanism, she had become

flooded with thoughts of suicide. Also at this time demonshad attempted to possess her. In her desperation, she cried

out to God and there on Mt. Prospect Avenue put out her

thumb to hitch hike a ride home looking for safety. Beloved,

we wrestle against a very clever devil. One who has invadedBibles, churches, governments, and every facet of society.

His desire is to be worshipped, and according to the

Scriptures, the whole world will go after him in the lastdays. We must never forget that he is a murderer and a liar

from the beginning.

I continued the hospital visits and eventually Donna would

be released from the hospital. Likewise she began to attend

church where one night she came forward and gave her life

to Jesus. This would be a beginning point of the workings of

the great deliverance of God. As I began to meet her familyI discovered that they were afraid to go into their basement

because something lived down there and would even throw

things around. With the familys permission I went down the

basement and discovered all kinds of books that involvedpeople in occultism, witchcraft, and satan worship including

a satanic bible.

Again with the familys permission I began to remove all ofsatans literature. As I did this the demons began to attack

Donna to the place where she nearly fainted and seemed as

if she was in a semi-conscious state. I could feel the anger ofhell as I took all of this material out of the house and

brought it to my house to burn page by page. For the next

two nights I would experience satanic attack in my dreams,

but the Lord would manifest deliverance. I returned to

Donnas house, prayed a blessing over it, and the demon

powers left that house.

HEALEDAt around this same time I discovered that Donnas father

had a large tumor on his kidney. In the providence and graceof Gods timing, we were having a guest speaker at the

church that would pray for the sick. As I invited Donnas

father to come to the service he graciously accepted myinvitation. That night he would be prayed for and he and his

wife would accept Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. Also in

the grace of the Lord, Jesus gave a healing touch to his

physical body. X-rays would later show that the tumor wascompletely gone.

Whenever the Lords saving and healing power comes the

enemy will always try to come and take back what the Lord

has done. Within a few months time Donna would be

influenced by her former acquaintances from her satanic

activities. Her father called and asked for prayer because

Donna had not been home in a few days.

GODS PURPOSES IN CAR ACCIDENTSOn the Friday night after we had received the call for prayer

on Donnas behalf, the Living Sacrifice Band had played aconcert in the borough of Brooklyn. The ride back was

interrupted when a teenager in a stolen Lincoln Continental

smashed into the back of our van which was stopped at a

street light on Broad Street in Newark. As the driver put theLincoln Continental into reverse, he crossed to the other side

of Broad Street and sped away from the accident. Prudence

dictated that it was necessary to drive the van out of thedark, dangerous streets of Newark to a homeward direction.

When I returned home my neck and back began to ache. I

decided to go to the emergency room where I was given a

brace to wear until I could see a doctor on Monday. As I left

the hospital and drove through the streets of Newark at 3:00

a.m., I came across Donna being pushed into the streets to

prostitute by a man and a woman. As I pulled my car over Icried out, In the Name of Jesus let her go! She now belongs

to God. I then commanded Donna to get in the car. As

Donna got into the car she was nearly hysterical. The man

who was pushing her in the streets came up to my carwindow and pointed a pistol at my head. I had been in this

situation on another occasion with Timberwolf the Indian,

so I rolled down my window and called upon him to repentof his wickedness and to ask Jesus to change his life. As I

shared the Gospel he brought the gun down to his side and I

was able to spend about twenty minutes talking with himabout the destiny of his soul. That night I returned Donna to

her family. Truly Jesus hears prayer and guides with His

protection when His sheep are lost.

Shortly after this incident, I was preaching a Sunday night

service and Donnas family was present. As I began mymessage, the woman who I saw in the streets of Newark at

3:00 a.m., came through the doors of the church. From the

back of the church she lifted both hands at me in a gesture ofevil power and released something of a soulical,

demonic nature. I found my mind would go completely

blank and I was unable to speak. I would later find out fromDonna that she was one of the leaders of the satanic masses.

By the grace of God and through the Blood of Jesus, I

regained my senses and went on to finish the message.

Jesus Spirit is an overcoming Spirit. Also by the grace ofGod, Donna did not return to the church of satan.

It is important to understand that we wrestle not against

flesh and blood but against principalities and powers that are

under the directions of satans throne. They come to steal,

kill and destroy. One of their weapons is suicide. They

especially want to lead young people into suicide. Through

Jesus Christ there is great power to overcome satans call todeath. Never forget that Jesus overcoming Spirit is greater

than satans murderous attempts to destroy life by suicide.
