Another turn working the county food distribution at MOS. Below from left, Gerry Cano, Gene Gamble, Ann Pauly, Lane Neff, Hanna Flick, Olivia Dorsch and Tracey Dorsch. Thank you so much. The next time to volunteer is February. It was great to have 2 from the FR Rotary Interact Club. Stay tuned and volunteer! It’s fun.
Last week was a social meeting and a review of events. President Andrew Ferri led the meeting and we had a guest, Sheaira Davis from MyBelongs. As a previous program presenter, she filled us in on her latest activities. Her husband is currently deployed and that has slowed her down quite a bit. She joined us for lunch and collected some items that Ellen Cruse had collected for her.Dennis Gounley won the raffle and split it between the backpack program and the scholarship fund, and Andrew read the Foundation moment for an absent Pat Shaffer. Gene Ciafre and Mike Silvert collected fines as well as October Birthday bucks. We adjourned early!

Bonfire Night, or Guy Fawkes Night in England is November 5th but for us, this year, November 15th. Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the English Parliament (in 1605) but was caught and burned at the stake. Traditionally in England they celebrate with a bonfire, fireworks, and special food. The Lamplighter will have a traditional meal for us. We will also serve wine, beer, and soft drinks. Hilary will bring a dessert. Our bonfire will take place up behind the Lamplighter. On the east side parking lot, go up the hill behind the bungalow and we will meet there. A tradition in England is to make a 'guy' using old men’s clothes, stuffed with paper. Jenny Hartman & Hilary Richards will make these and when the time comes we throw them on the bonfire and burn Guy Fawkes in effigy. Should be fun to celebrate this English tradition, Again!

This past weekend was the Great Coat Giveaway. Wow! Over 1500 coats and the people came. Friday Dave Beatty (with help) brought over 100 boxes with 15 or more coats in each. A lot of people helped hang and sort them on racks. Children’s coats and accessories filled the tables and many people took several. Several FR Soccer team members helped and the event was a great success. A few photos of the workers to the left, and we will repeat it.
