No. 111 The First Outermost CoffinThe coffin is carved out of heavy wood, overlaidwith thin gold upon gesso, the face and thehands being of heavier gold. The insignia uponthe forehead are inlaid with opaque, coloredglass and faience. The eyebrows and eyelidsare of lapis colored glass, the eyeballs of calciteand the pupils of obsidian. No. 124 The King headrest.This unique headrest represents the God Shu (God of Air) according to the legend,supporting the celestial vault in order to hold it separated from the earth. The symbolas for protection is carved around his shoulders and thinly underlined in blue as is hishair and the kilt he is wearing. The two lions carved on either side represent either themountains Manu and Bako or the loins Routy that guarded the Eastern and Westernhorizons. These loins are very different from each other, one is young, and the otheris old. Their tails are outstretched along their sides. Net weight 3 Kg.

When inscription arefound on them, they usually give thename and titles of the deceasedtogether with a prayer for offerings.(2) Small figures, often enclosed inmodel coffins, inscribed with a magicaltext.
