` Airport security are constantly dealing with passengers andpotential threats to civil aviation. Airport and Airline security bothbelongs to the category of 'Aviation Security' or generally knownas 'AVSEC' in aviation terms. Their need is due to therequirements that is set by the International Civil AviationOrganization ( ICAO ) under the Annex 17, "SafeguardingInternational Civil Aviation Against Acts of Unlawful Interference"which primarily deals with anti hijack, anti sabotage and antipilferage measures. Airport security generally do baggagescreenings right after ( or before ) check-in and at times, drugsniffing ( K9 unit ) for drugs and explosive devices.Methodologies and technologies countering the threat , including

passenger screening, X-ray, explosive trace detection, profiling, etc.

How to get through the line faster.` Passengers are asked to bear in mind the following advice

to help make their passage through the airport as efficientand comfortable as possible. 1.1 Regulation on handluggage for international bound passengers. Effective May

21.2007 ( Monday ) This is the easy formula for airlinecarry-on baggage and established by TSA that mandatesthat passenger can only carry liquids, aerosols and gels inthree-ounce ( 100ml ) containers, which should be safelykept inside a one-quart, plastic zip- top bag. This includescommon items such as toothpaste, shampoo and food.

` Facilities Management process considers riskmanagement in airports in the delivery of airportservices, particularly in the area of airport safety andsecurity. Lessons from past incidents helped informulating new processes the various hijacking inthe past from the basis of the present day security atthe airport. The best defence against all this incidentis a good security measures to prevent unauthorisedaccess to aircraft any where in the airport. Serioussecurity checks to stop anybody staff and

` Technology is a necessary tool in the field of airport security. The advances of airportsecurity technology enhance the overall security process, not only as a deterrent, butalso to provide a greater range of observation and detection. Key to success is inintroducing a scalable solution that is capable of managing all aspects of the securitysolution centrally. Complex and outdated security plans combined with legacytechnology may be contributing to inefficiencies in airport security and operations,

leading to time delays congestion and ultimately sharp declines in passenger volume. While the list of systems that contribute to airport security is endless, some of thecommon systems include; baggage screening and handling ( e.g., RFID, EDS )access control, intrusion and perimeter detection, security intelligence, metal detectorsand video surveillance. Video surveillance is an important component to any airportsecurity plan. Incorporating video analytics has the capacity of identifying unattendedbaggage, abnormal behavioural patterns, including erratic vehicle and passenger flow.Together they enhance to security solutions, especially if that have a significant numberof video streams to monitor.

` In this post-September 11 world of increased airportsecurity, passenger really need to be informed andprepared. The Transportation Security Administrationhas developed standardized security screening

procedures for all airports. Although flying has neverbeen safer, there are increased wait times and thereis a long list of items that should not be packed inchecked or carry-on luggage. These are the obviousthings like explosives, but there are other, seemingly

    harmless items, that are prohibited.

` The first priority is to ensure the safety of everyone using theairport, but beyond this passengers need to have a fast andstress-free passage through security. That is why the target is forat least 95% of passengers to queue for ten minutes or less atsecurity search area. Regularly review and initiate surveys andresearch can improve to understanding of passengerexpectations and views. With this information can develop andinvest in the right services, products and facilities at the KLIA.Feedback from passengers on this performance is hugelyimportant to the management. The main measure is the AirportService of Quality ( ASQ ) which was established in 1991. ASQsurvey is the world's leading airport customer satisfaction

benchmark programme with over 130 airports in more than 45countries surveying their passengers every month of the year. All airports use the same questionnaire and follow the samemethodology.
