Slide 4 Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae Born in Guelph, Ontario on Novmeber 30 th, 1872. Canadian doctor, serving in France during World War 1. Died January 28 th, 1918 in France of pneumonia (age 46). Author of the poem In Flanders Fields. Slide 5 Where is Flanders Fields? Flanders is an area in the countryside of northern France and Belgium. Its about 6,000 Km from Lieutenant-Colonel McCraes home in Guelph.
