Player of the match: Alex A beautiful morning at Kellyville for the second game of the season. Carlo batted first with Tom leading off, but a little early season rust saw him go down swinging. Things picked up with a strong hitting from Jude, Jack, Eve and Nathan and the team made the most of their opportunities to post 4 runs for the innings. Scotty was on the mound for our first time in the field and was throwing some real heat. 3 Strikeouts saw the batting side sit down with no runs on the board. The second dig started shakily with Kyle thrown out at first after a tidy infield play, and Soren put out at 2nd. But inspired by coach Tom's rallying words the team dug in, as the Kellyville relief pitchers struggled to find their range. Smart running from Jude and Jack saw them rapidly round the bases, and a procession of walks ended up with 6 runs on the board. Jackson then stepped up to the plate and after the lead off batter singled to centre field, he was supported by some great fielding . Kyle was dynamic behind the plate, tagging one runner out, and throwing out 2 more at 2nd and 3rd. Batting in the 3rd dig did not quite go to plan with Eve and Nathan out to infield flys, and Alex put out at 1st. It was left to Eve to round out the game on the mound, and she turned

on a great display of accurate pitching and slick fielding, with one k2 and a throw to 1st for 2 outs. The final action of the match saw a great heads-up play by Alex, cleaning up an infield hit and cooly making the throw to 2nd to put out the forced runner.IntermediateRedsoxvBlacktownResult–Loss9-10With a couple of training sessions and a game last week the Intermediate Redsox are gaining confidence and bonding well as a team. The team are lucky to have such wonderful coaches in Nathan and Craig who are working really well with the team. Redsox warmed up well and went through their drills looking keen and sharp to take on Blacktown Workers. It wasn’t long before the umpire called “Balls Out” and “Batter”. Our first Innings was over too quickly and we were all out in three batters. James Clifton was first pitcher and was sharp and fast. Our team looked good communicating and encouraging each other. There was plenty of enthusiasm out on the field. Blacktown had a great start getting four home in their first innings. Nathan and Craig kept the team focused and were giving great advice and support. Our second innings began well with James Clifton hitting big and making third. Jordan was the next batter and he hit big getting James home and making first. James Farrell also batted well. The second fielding innings saw Liam catching well. Adam also showed his speed and chased down some of Blacktown’s big hitters and returning the ball strongly. Coach Nathan called for Corey to pitch. And Corey showed he is a great pitching asset to the team and great support to Liam at the home plate. Another big Blacktown hit saw super fast Ariane chase and return the ball stopping a few making home. Ariane was the first batter in the third Innings and hit well making first. Corey was next and he hit high luckily Blacktown dropped the ball and he safely made first. In the next Innings Harry fielded ball well from Corey and got a fast running batter out. We were starting to slow Blacktown down and also make some runs ourselves. The 4 run deficit from the first innings was closing. In the fourth Innings we managed to get a few more runs with James Farrell hitting well. This innings also saw Adam, Corey and Liam running well with a few runs home. We also got to see Erin in full flight running well between bases. The game was over too quickly on such a nice morning and we sadly lost by 1 run. James Clifton was the player of the match. The Intermediate Redsox have the makings of a great team and showed many great skills and sportsmanship. This will be a great season for the team I am sure.
