The Persian Empire• The Persian Empire: The Persian Empire
lasted from 550 BC- 642 AD. At its largest it extended from the Anatolia Peninsula, to Egypt, Israel, Mesopotamia all the way to the Indus River.
Persepolis• Persepolis: Persepolis was the capital city of
the Persian Empire. It contained buildings with pillars and columns. It held temples and palaces of kings, as well as their tombs.
Zoroastrianism• Zoroastrianism: Persian monotheistic
religion. Zoroastrians believe that there is one god, and that the forces of good and evil are always battling on earth. Believed in Heaven and Hades, and that god would one day return to claim the good souls left on earth. Their holy book is called the Avesta.
Satrapy System
• The Satrapy System: The Satrapy System is how the Persians ruled over those that they conquered. It worked like this: After conquering a place, the Persians would break up the region and allow Persians to control each little region creating a large government to keep things under control.
