also a novel figure)

9-16 All chase clockwise round back to place (the “O”, and the spread to the

whole world)

17-24 All men, advance for 2 into the center and dance out to the empty place on

their right an face in (2 bars). All ladies repeat, but stay facing out (V).

25-32 All set, turning singly the easy way to face partner (I, in isolation). Dosido

your partner (D), All set turning singly the easy way to end with ladies facing out,

men facing in (1, more isolation).

33-48 All dance Shiehallion reels (9), ladies finish facing out ready to start again.

Repeat from new positions

THE BUG

R8x32 3C (4C set) Deviser: Isabel Neves

Recommended tune: Pulling Bracken (Traditional)

1-8 1s dance in and cast to 2nd place (2s step up on bars 3-4); 1s dance RSh around

each other (gipsy turn) to face 3rd corners

9-16 1s dance corners pass and touch elbows with 3rd corners (1s dance around

corners and pass RSh in the middle to face 4th corners while 3rd corners dance

towards each other with arms crossed in front – like for DoSiDo in ceilidh

dances – touch right elbows in the middle and keep dancing forward so they’ve

changed places); repeat with 4th corners, 1s passing RSh in the middle to

opposite sides. Ends 3x, 1x, 2x, ladies facing up, men facing down.

17-24 All chase clockwise ½ way, ending in a circle in the middle, facing in; all set

(without giving hands), 4 spring points.

25-32 All chase clockwise for 6 bars (ending as they started, but closer together,

facing in); on bars 31-32 all pull back RSh and dance back to the sides, ending

2s, 1s, 3s.

Repeat having passed a couple.

Careful, Not Crazy 8X32 Jig for 3C

In response to a call for hands-free dances during the Coronavirus scare and the

insanity of people buying way too much and clearing store shelves in panic.

March 2020.

1-8 1C cast off and dance down behind own lines then cast up to 2nd place. 2C step

up on bars 3-4.

9-16 2C set and cross the set passing right shoulder.

On bar 3, 1C set and cross the set passing right shoulder.

On bar 5, 3C set and cross the set passing right shoulder.

17-20 All chase clockwise halfway around the set, 2W and 3M pulling left shoulders

back to be ready for....

21-24 Reels of 3 halfway on the sides, 1W passing 2W in 3W’s place left shoulder while

1M passes 3M in 1M’s place left shoulder. 1C end facing 1st corners.

25-32 1C and corners dance set to corners and partner (hello-goodbye).

On the last 2 bars, 1C dance a petronella turn to 2nd place on own sides to end facing

out ready to repeat. At the start of the 3rd repetition of the dance, 1C cast off to 4th

place as a new couple casts off from the top.

Repeat.

Suggested music is Tine’s Jig from Moments in Time.

Copenhagen Strathspey

1-8 Reels of four on the side

9-16 1st couple with 2nd couple, 3rd couple with 4th couple dance right hands across, left hands across.

17-24 1st couple set, cast off, 1st and 3rd couples dance 4 hands round to the left.

25-32 1st couple set, lead up to 1st place, cast off to 4th place - 3rd & 4th couples step up on bars 31-32.

33-40 2nd couple with 3rd couple, 4th couple with 1st couple dance rights and lefts.

I usually use the recording of "Letham Ladies" by Rob Gordon (TAC 102), which is 4x40, for this dance.

The Corona Virus Reel

3x32R 3 couples in a 3 couple set

No hands given during dance at all.

Bar

1-8. 1st and 3rd couples dance double figures of eight around 2nd couple. (1st and 3rd couple act like spraying

disinfectant in the air.

9-16. Circle six hands round and back (no hands given)

17-24. Grand Chain for 3 couples. (No hands given)

25-32. 1st couple dance down the middle and up to 3rd place with 2nd and 3rd couples stepping up on 31-32

simulate washing their hands.

Repeat from new positions 2 more times

(No hands being given during dance)

Coronadance Square Set R 48x4

1-8 All couples set and link twice (the “crown” of the virus)

9-16 1M followed by 1W chase to 2nd position, on bar 11 2s chase to 3rd position and 1s dance into 2nd

place and so on to finish all couples progressed and all M back to back in the centre facing W. 1M, 2M

and 3M dance in on bar 16, 4M loops in from 1W place (The spreading)

17-22 Men dance six bars setting as in crown triangles (no hands), while W set, petronella turn to the

right, set

22-24 All petronella turn changing place with front person (opposite partner) to finish W back to back

inside the set.

25-30 Repeat bars 17-22

31-32 All petronella to the right to finish on the sides in the order 3 4 1 2. 1s stay in the center ready for

(the development)

33-40 1s dance all around one couple poussette (quarantine)

41-48 All circle no hands to the left, pivot and circle back giving hands finishing in the order 4 1

2 3 (back to normal

Dodgem Reel Dodgem Reel 32 bar reel for three couples, standing in a three couple longwise set or

sitting separately in dodgems. Beatrix Wepner - Gábor Turi, 2018.

1-8 1st, 2nd and 3rd couples dance reels of three on the sides. To begin, 1st couple cross down, 1st woman passing 3rd man by the left and 1st man passing 3rd woman by the right while 2nd couple dance out and up. 1st couple finish in partner's place while 2nd couple finish between 3rd couple in the middle of the set facing up, 3rd couple finish back in places facing up. 9-12 1st couple cross over passing right shoulder (no hands) and cast down 1 place while 2nd couple dance up to top without taking hands, 2nd man finish facing out. 13-16 2nd and 1st couples chase anticlockwise half way round, 1st lady and 2nd man finish facing out. 17-18 1st couple (1st lady leading followed by her partner) cast down 2 places while 2nd couple (2nd man leading followed by his partner) cast down 1 place. 19-24 1st and 2nd couples dance three quarters of a double figure of eight round the standing 3rd couple (2nd couple always cross first). 25-26 1st woman, 2nd man, 2nd woman and 1st man cross up 1 place without taking hands, (women cross first) while 3rd couple dance up 1 place on the sidelines. Women finish facing up. 27-32 1st woman followed by 2nd and 3rd women dance across the set, behind the men and pass own partner by the left shoulder to dance back to own side. 2,3,1 Repeat from new positions. Dodgem Reel - From A Reel Goulash 2 Dance Information The dance was devised by Bexi and Gabor for David Hall for his very special birthday as a present along with a voucher of a dedicated private use of the whole dodgem facility in Böhmischer Prater, Wien. The motto of the dance: accidents can happen only accidentally!

Fergus and His Ladies 40-bar jig for 3 couples in a 3-couple set

Bars 1–4

1st, 2nd, and 3rd men dance around their partner, passing left shoulders, into the

middle of the set facing down.

Bars 5–8

1st, 2nd, and 3rd ladies fall in behind their partners as all dance down the middle

in a single line (3s leading).

Bars 9–12

Ladies pulling right shoulder back (turning toward the men’s side), and men

pulling left shoulder back (turning toward the ladies’ side), all dance up the

middle, side by side with partner (1s leading), to opposite sides.

Bars 13–16

1M and 1L dance round each other by the right shoulder 1½ times to own sides.

Bars 17–32*

1M, with 2L and 3L following, dances across the top of the set and weaves down

through 1L, 2M, and 3M and back up. When 3L dances below 2M, she continues

back up the line, now leading 1M and 2L. When 2L dances up around 2M, she

continues back down the line, now leading 3L and 1M below 2M, behind 3M,

across the set and up the men’s side, finishing 2L, 3L, 1M.

* This formation is based on the English country dancing formation known as a sheepshead hey.

Bars 33–36

All advance and retire, giving a loud “quack” where a clap often occurs on the

last strong beat (dotted quarter note) of bar 36.

Bars 37–40

1L casts to third place while 2L and 3L dance across to their own side while 2M and

3M dance diagonally up to their own side, all pulling right shoulder back; all set.

Repeat with a new lead couple.

Note on title: This dance was inspired by a runner duck we once owned who was very

popular with the female ducks in our flock. Fergus led his lady ducks everywhere, and

they followed! Because ducks have no hands, there is no giving of hands anywhere in

the dance.

Groundhog Day 8x32R

(3c/4c set) by Violaine Eysseric Bars 1-8. 3c, 2c &1c dance down for 2 bars, set, dance up backwards for 2 bars and do a

petronella turn to go back to their original place (Rsh back for women and Lsh back for

men).

9-16. 1c dance a half figure of eight around 2c ; 1c cast off one place (2c step up) and

cross up to go back to their original place (2c step down).

17-24. 1c + 2c set & rotate.

25-32. 2c, 1c, 3c circle left and pivot left to chase back to their line (finishing in order: 2,

1, 3).

Hi! Here is my contribution to the pandemic dances theme. It's a dance I devised last

year, inspired by the movie "Groundhog day". As we are all locked down at the moment,

I think we all have this feeling to live the same day again and again...

The Hand Sanitizer Strathspey (S3x32)

1-4 1s and 2s dance half a no hands right hand wheel (chase clockwise halfway)

5-8 1s and 3s dance half a no hands left hand wheel (chase anticlockwise halfway)

9-10 1s cast up into second place

11-12 set advancing to first corner (position)

13-16 Half diagonal reel of four, keeping 2m distance at all times. 1s end facing

second corners

17-20 Half diagonal reel with second corners, 1s end on opposite sides

21-24 No hands one and a half turn

25-32 No hands diamond poussette with 2s

And everyone should go and wash their hands!

Kabin Fever 32 Bar Reel for 3 Couples

Bars 1-4 1st couple turn by the right and cast off one place. 2nd couple step up on bars 3-4.

5-6 Taking hands on the sides, all three couples set.

7-8 2nd and 3rd couples continue setting while 1st couple dance a petronella turn to finish woman between the 2nd couple facing down and man between the 3rd couple facing up.

9-10 Taking hands in lines across the dance, all three couples set.

11-12 2nd and 3rd couples continue setting as 1st couple dance a petronella turn to finish facing first corners.

13-16 Half reel of four with first corners. 1st couple pass by the right in the middle to face second corners.

17-20 Half reel of four with second corners. 1st couple pass through second place to

21-24 Dance around each other by the right shoulder once and a half ("Gypsy Turn") to finish in second place on own sides.

25-28 All chase clockwise halfway around to finish m the order 2-1-3: 1st couple on opposite sides.

29-32 All turn partners by the right: once for 2nd and 3rd couples and once and a half for the 1st couple.

Repeat having passed a couple.

facing up. Skip change to 2nd place opposite side facing out.

corners. On bar 8, 2nd couple dance left shoulder around each other to finish back

to back, 2nd woman facing down, 2nd man facing up

9 – 12 2nd couple dance ½ left shoulder reels across the set; 2nd man giving left

shoulder to 1st man, 2nd woman giving left shoulder to 3rd woman to begin

13 – 16 2nd couple dance ½ right shoulder reels on the sides; 2nd woman giving

right shoulder to 1st man, 2nd man to 3rd woman.

2nd couple finish in second place on their own side 3x,2,1x

17 – 24 2nd couple, starting from the sidelines, dance a reel of four with their

second corner positions and finish back in second place.

25 – 32 2nd couple cast one place clockwise as 3rd and 1st couples petronella into

the middle, 3rd and 1st couples set as 2nd couple dance between them to opposite

sides; 3rd and 1st couples petronella to the sidelines and set as 2nd couple dance

counterclockwise around the outside of the set back to second place 3,2,1

33 – 36 2nd couple dance a half figure of eight down around 1st couple (NO

HANDS).

37 – 40 2nd couple dance a half figure of eight up around the 3rd couple (NO

HANDS), dancing straight down behind 1st couple to third place as 1st couple step

up on 39-40 3,1,2

The Pandemic Reel

A 32-bar reel for any number of dancers in their own living rooms

1-8 Dancers cast off behind own couch, dance around the end & back to place.

9-16 Do-Si-Do around coffee table, then slip step away from the coffee table & back.

17-24 Dance down the hallway, into the kitchen, grab a beverage* & dance back to place.

25-32 Set while placing the beverage on the coffee table, turn on the spot twice (using Pas de

Basque), then retire to the couch, sit, and enjoy.

*Wine, beer, whiskey, or other beverage of choice

„Pandemonic!“

First couple successfully brought to a hold after 16 bars, yay, after a fugual start spreading the pattern all over the place.

1-2 First couple petronella turn.3-4 First couple set facing up and down while second couple petronella turn (second lady

between �rst couple).5-6 First couple petronella turn to opposite side while second couple set while third couple

petronella turn (third lady between second couple).7-8 First couple set while second couple petronella to opposite side while third couple set.

9-10 First couple pass left shoulder back to own side, facing out while second couple set while third couple petronella to opposite side.

11-12 First couple start casting into third place while second couple cross up (no hands) to top place facing in while third couple set.

13-14 First couple �nish casting into third place while second couple pass left shoulder facing out while third couple cross up to second place (no hands) facing in.

15-16 First couple set while second couple cast down into second place while third couple pass left shoulder to �nish back to back facing partner's side (and man facing man, lady facing lady); second and third couple forming a line across the dance.

17-24 Second and third couple dance a reel of four across the dance, both couples �nishing shoulder to shoulder facing down (men on the left of their partner, and third couple in the lead, so overdo the reel a bit).

25-32 With third couple leading, both couples cross down below �rst couple, cast up, meet in the center to face up. Third couple cast into second place, second couple �nish in �rst place turning inwards.
