We’ve eagerly anticipated this annual celebration of spring, friends and family! Arrive promptly – you won’t want to miss a morning filled with memory-making and celebratory displays of student talent. Expect to see student artwork, drama enactments, choral performances, and of course, dance. The schedule is as follows: 8:30 am Opening session and performances 9:15 am Classroom visitation 10:30 am May Day performances Plenty of time will be allotted to interact with faculty, students and others while enjoying light refreshments as well. Our book fair will be open throughout the morning, and there will be plenty of opportunities to purchase spirit wear and collect literature on The Burlington School’s academic, artistic and athletic performance in our inaugural year. In preparation for this special day, please note the following: We advise that all guests attending May Day back into their parking spaces – this makes for a swifter and safer exit when all parties dismiss from the morning’s festivities! o Guests with special needs should park in the front lot; families should park in the side lot – once parking spaces on campus are full, cars may be parked along the street. Pay special attention to the TV display and prompts from teachers and administrative guides to attend each portion of the program in a timely fashion. Revisit the main TV display for announcements on where and when to move between locations.

THE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR IS UNDERWAY! Students are flocking to the Maude Sharpe Powell Library at the Greenwood Terrace Campus to make purchases at our annual book fair, open from Monday, April 28th – Friday, May 2nd. Be sure to discuss book choices with your children and ensure they bring money to make purchases throughout the school day this week!

PRE-REGISTER FOR HALF-DAY EXTENDED DAY CARE

For the half-day on May 2nd after May Day programs have ended, Extended Day care will be $30 per child until 6pm. Please bring lunch for your child – it will not be provided! Please pre-register by e-mailing

Trinity Taylor at [email protected] by tomorrow, Wednesday April 30.

For June 10th and 11th (Graduation day and the day following) care will be offered for free. You MUST pre-register your children for extended day care; there is a cap of 40 students. Pre-register today to

reserve your spot!

REGISTER FOR FIELD DAY TODAY!

Field Day is fast approaching! Make sure that your online registration is complete by this Thursday, May 1! Register at www.theburlingtonschool.org/field_day. We’ll need t-shirt sizes and lunch orders to get your child’s lunch order solidified, as well as a t-shirt for the appropriate team. Stay tuned next week for team

assignments!

BOB STATE COMPETITION!

The NCSLMA Middle School State Battle Of the Books competition will be held on Thursday, May 1. The competition will start at 9:15 am should be finished at approximately 3:30 pm. The State Competition is being held in the Elliott Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Competing teams will be using Cone Ballroom A for the breakout area and Ballrooms B and C for the competition. Parents and friends should park in one of the nearby parking decks at their own cost.
