TRENDING NOWAt IMTA we are all about the latest and greatest trends. In our last issue we gave you a glimpse of some of the top Makeup Trends of the year. While styles and looks are always changing these three have made a huge impact impact over the last few months in the Fashion Industry.

Dramatic ruffles, puffed-up sleeves, and unapologetic glam vibes. Ready to bust out some of your 80’s wear? Or maybe you need to rummage through your moms closet for a few key items. The trick is to not over do it! Pair a cute pair of jeans with an off the shoulder ruffle top. It adds the right amount of of retro and chic.

A sexy take on athleisure, with skin-skimming knits that outline every curve, color-block bodysuits, and cute sporty separates. Did you just get done with the gym looking that cute? Make sure you invest in pieces that mix function and fashion and accessorize appropriately. Pair a structured leather jacjacket, a shirt around your waist or even a sleek pony tail that looks more put together than a messy bun. Athleisure is the NEW casual, be comfortable and confident!

Natural tones and fabrics, with lavish accessories, multi-layered textures and an array of impressive floral patterns. Boho is by far my favorite look. It is so easy to dress up or down for this style. Grab a nude toned dress, an assortment of your favorite bracelets, a fringe purse and either a pair of Birkenstocks or a stor a strappy sandal. Floral is not just for the gals either, there is plenty of prints to go around for our stylish men as well. Guys pair a floral button up with a slim fit pant for a dapper look. Boho is simple, easy and fabulous.

IMPROV

Have fun and be yourself! It sounds like a cliché and dorky rule, but it is by far the most important. That's why it's number one on this list! You can never have too much fun doing Improv. The judges don't want to see someone nervous fumble through the competition. They want to see your personality shine through! This goes for all of IMTA Competitions, not just Improv.

Relax. In Improv scenes, it's important to take a moment before diving in. Take a step back, breathe, and then step into the scene.

Since you are doing the IMTA Improv Competition without a partner, it can boost your scenario to imagine another person to talk to (and listen to!) rather than just talking to yourself. This provides you someone to focus on and introduces into the situation a relationship, interaction and communication instead of it being a solo actor talking about what is happening.

Make strong active (not passive) choices. The only thing that's worse than not making a choice is making a choice you really don't believe you can accomplish for the Competition. Whether you're a dentist on a tightrope or a doctor on a deserted island, go at it with everything you've got! And don’t be afraid to make a new choice; if you feel what you are doing is not working, make another choice.

You don't have to be funny. The hidden riddle of Improv is that the harder you try not to be funny the more funny your scene is going to be. Why? Because the very best kind of Improv scene you can do is an "interesting" scene, not necessarily a "funny" one. When you do an interesting scene, a very surprising thing happens…the funny comes out all by its self.
