Scripture Focus

In the wedding at Cana John tells us the simple story of a wedding, which more importantly, is a “sign.” A wedding is taking place, not only the one at Cana, but the more important one between God and people. God joins to Israel in the appearance of the Son. When Jesus changes water into wine, he replaces the old order (water) with the new (wine). The astonishing amount of wine (ninety to one hundred fifty gallons) suggests the superabundant blessings of this new age. Here lies the truth behind the wedding scene. Jesus revealed his “glory” and the disciples “saw” and began to believe him. Life Focus

1. Who helped bring your faith to life? How do you do this for others?

2. What blessings have come to you beyond what you asked or expected?

3. When were you able to talk to those close to you about who you are and what you believe?

4. Where has the wine run out in your life?

5. Describe a recent “ordinary” event that ended up having extraordinary meaning for you.

Second Sunday of Ordinary Time

New Hours for the office: Effective January 1st the parish office is open

Tuesday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Thank you for your patience and cooperation in adjusting to the new schedule

Appreciation I want to thank all of you for your love and support during my seven weeks stay with you. It was just like yesterday had come and gone. I appreciate your participation at liturgical services, which has been a source of strength for us all. I leave here with a whole lot of positive things about Canada. I thank the parish staff and the entire church community. Deacon Denis than you for your guidance. Fr. Patrick Okenyi, you have been a shining example for me right from the Minor Seminary. God bless you and bless St. Patrick’s parishioners. I will miss you all!

Fr. John Ogbaje

Thank you!! We want to say thank you to Father John for his service to us during these past seven weeks. Father John wanted to experience Canada in the winter and we certainly supplied that. Temperatures have dropped to -35 degrees and we have had a lot of snow. Father John has also experienced some firsts such as going to the movies, eating ice cream, watching a hockey game and eating spaghetti to name a few. He has had an opportunity to dine with parishioners at their homes, visit the sick in the hospital and in their homes to give them communion and the sacrament of the sick. He has heard our confessions, celebrated Baptisms and performed funerals. He has truly been our pastor.

Thank you Father John for all you have given us and for touching our lives!!

PERFUME & SCENT ALERT!

A number of our parishioners are very sensitive to fragrances from perfumes, colognes & lotions. They can set off serious allergic reactions. We ask that people refrain from using them when coming to Masses so that all will feel welcome and safe. A small sacrifice for others! Thank you!

Who is St. John Bosco and why does our parish remember him on his feast day? John Bosco lived in Turin, Italy at the time of the Industrial Revolution. Even before becoming a priest, he gathered poor and abandoned street boys and educated them to becoming “good Christians and honest citizens.” He used to say, “Education is a matter of the heart.” In 1859, he founded the Salesian order named after St. Francis de Sales. The Salesians primarily operate shelters for homeless or at-risk youth, schools, technical, vocational and language instruction centres and community centres for youth. Our parish CWL & Youth Ministry will partner again this year to remember the good work that God did through St. John Bosco for at-risk youth through an invitation to parishioners of all ages to take action through projects like “Bed-rolls for Street kids”.

What exactly is YOUTH MINISTRY anyway? Check out what our parish co-ordinator of Youth Ministry has to share in the insert.

Ever wondered what our parish youth are asking for to support their faith development and emotional and spiritual growth? Look to this week's insert to find out the results of the Youth Interest Survey....
