Third Sunday in Ordinary Time

ATTENTION: Widows/Widowers/Loss of Child Support Group: Our next

meeting will be Wednesday, January 27th

at 5:30 pm downstairs in the Upper Hall. The cost is $6

for the dinner. We ask if any widow/widower or parent that is interested in coming and has never been to a meeting

before, to please call the office and give your name. We want to make sure we have plenty of food for everyone. Our

numbers are growing quickly and so are the friendships. We also ask that if any widow/widower or parent wishes to

join the quiet fellowship dialogue with our facilitator Celia, that they meet in the boardroom which is the lower room

below the office at 4 pm. Here you can have a more personal healing time. It is usually in a small group setting and

will last until 5:30 pm where the group will then join the others for supper.

2016 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Events

Wonderful events happened this past week that brought together Christians from different backgrounds and styles. In spite of differences the times of prayer expressed:

1. The Prayer Breakfast saw 45 people from all over the city (several non-Catholic communities) gather and over $600 was received to support SUDBURY PROJECT HOPE – refugee efforts. Our new Bishop Marcel Damphousse was present and expressed his joy at what is happening in Sudbury.

2. Many parishioners gathered on Wednesday evening at Ste-Anne’s to welcome our new Bishop. It was a glorious occasion with all the local Catholic clergy, lay people and over 20 religious leaders (Christian and non-Christian) present. An historical event for Sudbury!

3. A time of prayer for PERSECUTED BELIEVERS took place here at St. Patrick’s on Friday evening. Another event of significance for the people of Sudbury.

The local Church is truly alive in the spirit of the Lord and of the Second Vatican Council in its call and mandate in 1964 and 1965 that Catholics be more open to the new reality of DIALOGUE and WORKING TOGETHER in those areas where we CAN and MUST co-operate – especially in serving the poor whether locally or globally.

This coming Friday January 29th the CONCERT FOR HOPE event (fundraising for the

SUDBURY PROJECT HOPE refugee effort) will be a fun night. Hope you can come.
