BERGEN COUNTY WELLNESS CHECK PROGRAM – Hackensack, NJ

One of my members utilizes this program and shared this information with me. I thought it was helpful and perhaps you would like to be a part of it. The Bergen County Wellness Check Program works like this. At approximate pre-specified hours, you will receive a FREE daily phone call from the Bergen County Wellness Check Program to check on your well-being. The call will begin with the following pre-recorded message: “This is a phone call from the Bergen County Wellness Check Program. Please press ‘1’ if you are okay.” When you become a participant in the program, you will be asked to identify friends or family who may assist you in an emergency. When the system cannot make contact with you, it will call the friend or relative you have designated. If your telephone line is busy or there is no answer, the system will call back one more time after four minutes. If there is still no answer, or the lines remain busy, your contact will automatically be notified to check on you. This systems will only respond to touchtone telephones or through a TTY – a device for the deaf and hard of hearing. If you would like to enroll in this program, an application is to be completed. There are applications here at The Center. If you have any questions, you can call the Division of Senior Services at: (201) 336-7400.

What is a Mother? (as seen through my eyes)

The role of a mother is one of the greatest gifts a woman can receive. I have put together some of my personal thoughts of defining a mother: A Mother is loyal A Mother is compassionate A Mother is nurturing A Mother is encouraging A Mother is self-less A Mother is always forgiving A Mother is patient A Mother is kind A Mother is devoted A Mother is loving A Mother is caring A Mother is a peacemaker A Mother cooks, cleans and does laundry A Mother’s love is unconditional A Mother is that special person who will always be your

best friend!

Personally speaking, my Mother still demonstrates these qualities. I just hope I have instilled these qualities with my children. I wish all of you ladies a very Happy and deserving “Mother’s Day”

All my love, Pam

Has This Ever Happened to You?

When I lay in bed at night, my mind continues to race and I think of

things to put in this newsletter. Here are some thoughts I had:

You took the time to write your grocery list – only to have left it

at home?

It was time to renew your driver’s license – drove to DMV and

forgot that one required document!

Painstakingly clip coupons, get to the checkout only to realize

the coupon required you purchase “2” items for the discount

and you only have “1”?

Shopping at a “Dollar” Store and asked the attendant, “How

much is this?”

The first month or two after the “New Year”, you are still writing

checks using the previous year?

Set your alarm for the next day, only to realize you never

adjusted to “Day Light Savings” time?

For those who wear eyeglasses…can’t find your eyeglasses

and then realize they are on top of your head or around your

neck?

Searching for your keys and they are nestled in your hand?

Shouted “BINGO” when you didn’t win?

Awoke extra early to put the turkey in the oven in preparation

for Thanksgiving dinner – but you forgot to turn the oven on?

Speaking of turkey…did you remember to remove all the

“internal contents” from the turkey BEFORE cooking it?

Hope you found some humor in these!
