Each year, the PTA Reflections

Program challenges students to create

art inspired by a specific theme.

Themes are selected from hundreds of

ideas submitted by students to the PTA

Reflections Program Theme Search.

This year’s theme…

A magic moment is a short period of time which is

very special, especially because something happens

that makes you very happy.

What moments in your life have been magic moments?

What kinds of things could make a magic moment for you?

Have you ever seen someone else have a magic

moment?

About the Theme

How Can I Show a Magic

Moment?

• Visually, in art or in a photograph

• With original music or through dance

• With poetry or stories

• Through a film production

The sky is the limit on possibilities!

Your mission, should you

Develop an artistic interpretation of the

PTA Reflections theme in one of the six

possible artistic styles!

• Literature

Four Grading Divisions

Primary

Preschool-Grade 2

Intermediate

Grades 3-5

Grades 6-8

You only compete against students in your age group!!

May I submit multiple entries?

YES! You may submit one entry for

each category which interests

you!

BUT! You may only submit one

entry per category.

What’s in it for me?

school, district, state, and the nation

• Recognition for your efforts

What do I need with my entry?

• Student Entry Form: Information about your entry and

you.

• Artist’s Statement: Describes in your words how your

entry relates to the theme.

• Student Consent Form: For entries which have other

students performing or featured in their entry (playing

an instrument, singing, acting, etc.)

Can I get help?• Each entry must be the original work of one student only

• An adult many NOT alter the creative integrity of a student’s work

• Help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed. Only one student may be recognized as the award recipient for each entry.

• Plagiarism is defined as taking and using another person’s ideas, writings, or inventions as one’s own. Plagiarized entries will be disqualified and returned to the students.

• Other individuals may appear in or perform a student’s work, but the work itself—the dance choreography, film production or musical composition, must be the creative product of one student only. (See the specific arts area rules

for details.)

• Use of copyrighted material (other than recorded music in dance choreography and film production entries) is prohibited.

When is my entry due?

All entries must be submitted to the media center

by October 19th, 2012. No entries will be

accepted after the deadline.
