2. The Commercial Multipurpose Port: 2.5 million m2 (850,000 m2

customs boundary) 90 berths and 13 km of quays, 3 railways & 60 kmof tracks, freight traffic fully separate from the urban one

3. The Industrial Area: refinery, oil stock areas, energy power stations,chemical and automotive component industry

4. The Inland Port “A. Vespucci”: 2.8 million m2 , cargo consolidationwith multimodal access, distribution centres, packing firms, customsclearance and scanning area, railstation, 3 MWh PV park, etc.

5. The Dry port “Il Faldo”: car stocking and distribution area fullyautomatised , 640,000 m2, capacity 25,000 cars, road and rail accesses

1. Major infrastructuralinterventions are alreadyongoing as the works fordirect electrified railway linkfrom the port to the coastalrailway line started inSeptember 2014.

2. The aim is to increase the railshare of container railtransport form current 14,6%of total container shipped.

Ongoing development plans

1. Livorno Port Authority is planninglong term developmentinterventions to ensure direct railconncetion to the hinterland:notably, within the TEN-T fundedAction ‘RACCORDO’ the designs ofsmall scale rail connections isenvisaged.

2. Livorno Port Authority aims atputting foward the completion ofthese connections within the 2014CEF Multiannual Call for proposals.
