This longread nonfiction essay examines the breadth and scope of the Star Wars galaxy, as it stood in the days just prior to the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Because that point would make the start of an annual film release schedule into the forseeable future, it made for a potent moment to take stock of many things. The original trilogy, the role and ultimate fate of the prequels, differences in the Force as described within those sources, and much more. The Clone Wars is discussed, as well as the key importance of a story arc within the Lost Missions in which Yoda learns the secret of projecting his visage and voice into the future. All of this is used to explore the importance of Story, and the role Star Wars has played (and will yet play) in ageless stories yet to come.
