By RYAN PRICHARD Sports Writer INSTITUTE - Lincoln County got plenty of rest Friday night, but the early 8 a.m. tipoff at the new Walker Convocation Center on the campus of West Virginia State University almost proved disaterous. After sleepwalking for most of the first half, the Panthers finally woke up long enough to post their third win of the season in the 16th edition of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Hoops Classic, defeating Liberty (Harrison) 60-51. "Playing at 8 a.m. proved to be tough for our kids to get in any flow offensively," LCHS head boys coach Rodney Plumley said after the game. "We pressured full court the entire game and at times it was effective, but it also gave them (Liberty) opportunites to get a few easy baskets and get kids involved that usually don't produce a whole lot." The full court press resulted in Lincoln County (3-1) having four players reach double-figure scoring led by Schylar Kelley's game-high 15 points. Sixth man Jacob Hudson came off the bench and netted 12 points while Jacob Kirkendoll and Jake Ashley added 11 points each. After trailing 15-11 at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers surged out to a 30-27 edge at halftime and never trailed the rest of the way, maintaining their lead. "We felt it was an oppor- tunity to work on our full court presses because at some point it's going to be the difference in pulling out a win in which we're trailing late in a game," Plumley replied. Liberty (Harrison) (0-3) was led by Thomas Surock and Nicholas Cain who tal- lied 12 points each for the Mountaineers. Lincoln County travels to Ashland, KY to play Rose Hill Christian Tuesday night and will travel to Ellenboro, WV for the Ritchie County Holiday Tournament December 29th and 30th. The Panthers will be looking for a three-peat after winning the tourney championship the last two seasons. INSTITUTE - LincolnCounty got plenty of restFriday night, but the early 8a.m. tipoff at the newWalker Convocation Centeron the campus of WestVirginia State Universityalmost proved disaterous.

After sleepwalking formost of the first half, thePanthers finally woke uplong enough to post theirthird win of the season inthe 16th edition of theFellowship of ChristianAthletes Hoops Classic, defeating Liberty(Harrison) 60-51.

"Playing at 8 a.m.proved to be tough for ourkids to get in any flowoffensively," LCHS headboys coach RodneyPlumley said after thegame. "We pressured fullcourt the entire game and attimes it was effective, but italso gave them (Liberty)opportunites to get a feweasy baskets and get kids

involved that usually don'tproduce a whole lot."

The full court pressresulted in Lincoln County(3-1) having four playersreach double-figure scoringled by Schylar Kelley'sgame-high 15 points. Sixthman Jacob Hudson came offthe bench and netted 12points while JacobKirkendoll and Jake Ashleyadded 11 points each.

After trailing 15-11 atthe end of the first quarter, the Panthers surged out to a30-27 edge at halftime andnever trailed the rest of theway, maintaining their lead.

"We felt it was an oppor-tunity to work on our fullcourt presses because at

some point it's going to bethe difference in pulling outa win in which we're trailinglate in a game," Plumleyreplied.

Liberty (Harrison) (0-3)was led by Thomas Surockand Nicholas Cain who tal-lied 12 points each for theMountaineers.

Lincoln County travelsto Ashland, KY to playRose Hill Christian Tuesdaynight and will travel toEllenboro, WV for theRitchie County HolidayTournament December 29thand 30th. The Panthers willbe looking for a three-peatafter winning the tourneychampionship the last twoseasons.
