The Rotaract Club ofLiguanea Plains (RCLP) isa community-based serviceclub founded in 2008 andsponsored by the RotaryClub of Liguanea Plains.RCLP consists of youngmen and women who are
dedicated to making adifference in their
communities.We aim to be active in
socially upliftingprogrammes, promote
literacy and be mentors tothe leaders of tomorrow.

More than 50 children atthe Jamaica National ChildrensHome in Papine are to benefitfrom a refurbished library in theNew Year.
The renovation is to becarried out by the Rotaract Clubof Liguanea Plains, whichadopted the home a year ago.In October the club hosted acruise on the Kingston Harbour,dubbed Fantastic Voyage, toraise funds for the project.The event was a tremendoussuccess to the extent that itepitomizes the Rotaract mottoof 'fellowship through service,comments RCLP Director ofFundraising Khadrea Folkes.Patrons were able to enjoy afabulous party on our Fantastic
Voyage in aid of the very worthycause of funding ourCommunity Service project atthe Jamaica National Childrens
Home.RCLP Director of
Community Service and CharterPresident, Tasha Wilson says anumber of things will be done toimprove the facility.We will be painting and installingnew wall fans. she says.
The club will also donate cleaningitems courtesy of KirkDistributors.
The renovation will formthe second half of efforts toimprove the homes Library. InAugust, the club handed overbooks to shore up resourcematerial available to the children.Before we begin work on thelibrary however, we hosted atreat for children on SundayDecember 19. We feted them,played games and shared in the
joy of the season with them,Charter President Tasharevealed.

Rotaractors Get Beauty TreatTis the season for sharing and mingling, andmembers of the Rotaract Club of LiguaneaPlains and their counterparts were, in themonth of December, given tips on how to do soflawlessly.
Rotaractors were treated to a make-uppresentation by make-up artist YahneakeSterling. From make-up trends for the holidayseason, to skincare routine and ways tomaintain a flawless look all day, Rotaractorsheard it all!
Sterling noted that the colours for theseason include shades of purple, green, grayand gold for the eyes; cherry red for the lipsand shimmery pink for the cheeks.She noted that for make-up to have a smooth
finish, prepping the face was of greatimportance. Always cleanse your face twicdaily, exfoliate at least two times a week a
moisturize every day, twice a day, Sterlingsaid.
The lips she said were not to beneglected and suggested that they bemoisturized with lip balm or Vaseline at lea10 minutes before applying lipstick to hydrathe lips.She concluded the presentation with two m-up demonstrations using members of RCLDirector of International Service Kerry-AnnEbanks and Director of Fundraising, KhadFolkes.Eight lucky winners also received prizes fro

EditorialThis special double issue is the final edition of The Liguanea Plains Monthly for the 2010, and what an eventful year it has been! During this season when we take time to thanks for all the good things in our lives we also look back at our accomplishments anddisappointments which defined our year. The members of the Rotaract Club of Liguanea Pare indeed thankful for the many opportunities that were afforded during this, the first half oRotaract year, to make a difference and transform lives. We have only begun to gather stealook forward to the conclusion of a successful administrative year come 2011. Each November,Rotaract Clubs the world overtake the time to reflect on one
of the hallmarks of ourorganizations rich history; theestablishment of the RotaryFoundation.
The Foundation aimsto advance worldunderstanding, goodwill, andpeace through theimprovement of health, thesupport of education, and thealleviation of poverty.RCLP sought to mark thisimportant month through
increasing its membership andstrengthening ties with otherRotaract Clubs and RotaryClubs alike.
In November fiveprospects became full-fledgedmembers of the RCLP family.In welcoming the quintetPresident Yahneake Sterlingcharged the newly pinnedRotaractors to use their talentstowards the improvement ofthe Club. The new
Rotaractors are Deleen Powell,Cameal Stewart, Timar Powell,Latoya Virgo and Curtis Brooks.In the spirit of fellowship, RCLPmembers visited the meetingheld by our parent Club, TheRotary Club of Liguanea Plains.
The club wasaddressed by District GovernorDiana White who encouragedRotarians to support and workwith the Rotaract Clubs andother youngsters in themovement. The highlight of themeeting was the Happymoments segment where onevisitor revealed that her happy
moment took place whileattending RCLPs FantasticVoyage where she walkedaway with one of the GatePrizes a one night stay atGoblin Hill Villas at San San.
And while dedicatedmembers are essential to theClubs success so too are wellinformed and motivatedleaders. To this end memberssharpened their knowledge ofthe different roles to be played
in Rotaract at the AnnuaPETS and Inter-clubassembly dubbed theNorthern Escape.

The first generalmeeting of the month focusedon Financial Planning withPortfolio Planner with Capitaland Credit Kerry Ann Walfall.
She gave an insightfulpresentation to the attentiveaudience of members andguests on how to secure therefinancial future with proper
planning, debt managementand general produce onmoney matters. Some of herkey peices of advice calld forpersons to create honest andrealistic financial plans, asksquestions before sigining anyloan contract, save for majorpurchases and mostimportanlty make budgets forspending.
The meeting was an
interactive affair as Ms Walfallresponded to questions fieldedby members seekng
clarification and further detailson some of the areashighlighted. The secondgeneral meeting of the monthwas dedicated to personalcare for all members withrepresentatives from Kirkdistributors.
The club meeting wastransformed into skin careatmosphere for skin fanaticsand like minded individualswith burning questions about
their skins issues.Kirk DistributorsRepresentatives,TanyaDavidson, Denise Byfield-Dixon, Princess Woodburn andRuth-Ann Gordon gaveinformative presentatinos onhow to care for skin. Anadditional treat was the freeskin analysis that was given toeach member to their indiviualskin types.
