INTRODUCTION

I’m so excited to be bringing you this Leadership Planner! It’s been a dream of mine to create this, and I hope it helps you get into the right mindset for achieving your

leadership goals.

I wanted to create a tool that would help you plan out, and in turn visualise, your goals and the steps you need to take to reach them, in an easy to use format that lays it all out and isn’t overwhelming.

I’ve included motivational and inspirational quotes throughout the planner as well, to give you a little boost when you might need it.

Having focus and clear goals are traits of great leaders, and this planner will give you the steps you need to get there for yourself. After a while, the planning and goal setting will become second nature to you - fantastic habits for any great leader!

If you’re ready to start planning out your leadership in an easy and straight forward way, and improve the amount of goals you actually achieve, then this is the planner for you!

HOW TO USE THIS PLANNER

Great leaders have clear focus and the ability to turn their vision into reality while inspiring those around them to do the same. To succeed, they need to

clearly articulate their goals and follow through on their plans.

This planner will help you to focus on what is important in your leadership journey. As you jot down your goals, you will be more likely to commit to them and this may lead to you accomplishing more.

MONTHLY FOCUS

Every month you should have a focus area that you want to work on over the 30-day period. Once you establish your focus area, you need to create goals centred on it. It’s best to have a maximum of 3 goals, as too many goals may leave you without enough time to fully accomplish all of them, leaving you feeling overwhelmed.

REFLECTIONS

The beginning of the month is the perfect time to reflect on what you’ve accomplished in the previous month, and note anything you need to improve on. In order to make this effective, you should write down the dates for when you want to have improved.

Similarly, at the end of each week, take time to look back at the week and celebrate your achievements. Note any challenges you experienced and decide how you are going to overcome them, if you haven’t already.

Celebrating your accomplishments, no matter how small they may seem, will go a long way to motivating you and keep you focused on achieving more.

WEEKLY ACTIVITIES

Each week you should work on achieving your goals for the month. This requires you to create a list of tasks that will help you move closer to your goals.

HOW TO USE THIS PLANNER

At the beginning of the week, decide on the deadlines for each task and who the task will be delegated to.

As the week progresses, you should return to the week page and update how you’re going with the task. Use the following symbols to indicate the status of each task:

DAILY ACTIVITIES

Every day, you should take the time to list the tasks you have to complete. Ideally most of the tasks will be related to your monthly focus area, however you should add even those tasks which are unrelated, but still need to get done. This will ensure you have a complete view of what you need to do, helping you feel more prepared.

There is a priority column in the tasks list that allows you to rate tasks based on their level of importance and urgency. The rating ranges from 1, indicating most urgent and most important to 4, referring to least urgent and least important. Doing this will help you to decide which projects should be tackled first, which can be delegated, and which ones can be rescheduled to a less busy day or time.

Remember to plan and spend some face to face time with your team; it’s called LBWA (Leadership by Walking Around).

At the end of each day, take some time to consider what you need to do the following day and prepare for those tasks. For example, if you have a presentation to deliver, you may need to polish up on the material you will be using.

Writing your goals down will help you visualise them, and this planner will assist you to plan your journey to success.

YOUR LEADERSHIP MANTRA

The best companies usually have strong mantras that rally their teams together towards achieving their goals. A mantra can also work for your personal brand, motivating and inspiring you to be a phenomenal leader.

To be truly genuine, your mantra should be based on your abilities and values. Think about what you are good at and how the people around you describe you. Tie this in with what you believe in, and the qualities that you would never compromise on. It may take a while to come up with your mantra, and it may help to consult with colleagues and family, who can give you their honest opinion on your strengths and abilities. Their different perspective may help you come up with an authentic leadership mantra, and gets you in the habit of seeking feedback as well.

To help you come up with your leadership mantra, let’s go through how to define your values, purpose, vision and mission. Examples are included to help you get started.

It can be hard to sit down and dig deep within yourself to clarify these parts of yourself, but they’re essential to be a truly authentic leader. Now that you’ve put all these pieces of the puzzle together, you’re ready to write your leadership mantra!

This quote sums up just why having clear values that you stick by is incredibly important to be a great leader, as they are what drive your and your teams’ behaviours. Some examples of values are:

Your purpose is your calling; what were you put here to do, in work and in life. When you have purpose, you’re more driven and others are drawn to you because of your passion for what you’re doing.

Some examples of purpose include:

• Developing future leaders• Making a positive impact on the world• Delivering excellent results through your team

My leadership purpose is:

YOUR VISION

Your vision is how you will carry out your purpose, and why you’re doing what you’re doing. No one wants to follow a leader who can’t tell them why! Inspire confidence in yourself and those around you by coming up with a vision that aligns with your values and your purpose, and articulating it whenever necessary to keep everyone on track. Everybody is more passionate about their work when following someone with a clear vision.

Examples of visions include:

• To be recognised as a leader in your industry• To make a product or service accessible to everyone• To get your company better results

Essentially, your mission is what you come up with when you put together the value you give, who you’re giving value to, and what outcome you expect from doing so. It expands on your values, purpose and vision to provide a clear statement of what you’re going to achieve.

A mission could be similar to the following examples:

• To develop future leaders from team members with potential, guaranteeing the company successful leadership in the future

• Using my skills and talents in leadership to share my knowledge with those around me and become an industry-recognised expert in my field

• To use the company’s position to provide those less fortunate with access to much-needed facilities
