This brand new initiative, known as the Counselor Corner, provides more counselor accessibility to the students. In addition, counselors have also been facilitating various theme-based activities such as Gratefulness, Unplug & Connect with others, and Kindness through Counselor Corner (please see photos at the end of this newsletter). Counselors met with their 9th grade students in small groups during the third week of November to discuss their high school experience so far while offering tips on making a successful transition. The meeting also served as an opportunity to re-introduce students to Naviance and to have them begin creating a Resume. Counseling Center Newsleer: JAN/FEB 2020 Course Information Night & Community Service Fair Attention Grades 8-11 Students & Parents: This year’s HS Course Information Night & Community Service Fair will be held on Thursday, January 9, 2020 from 7-9pm in the Sam Springer Gymnasium. All of our teachers will be on hand to answer questions about their courses. Additionally, AP teachers will offer mini-sessions to discuss the rigor and expectations of these courses. Over 20 community organizations will also be on hand to speak individually with students about the importance of volunteering in the community. Students will be able to learn about each organization in depth to find one that best matches their interest.

National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School

Counselor Association (ASCA), will be celebrated from Feb. 3–7, 2020, to

focus attention on the unique contribution of professional school counse-

lors and how students are different as a result of what school counselors

do. National School Counseling Week highlights the tremendous impact

school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success
