Brothers all:
I sincerely hope each and every Brother had
a Blessed Christmas. Thanks to all the
Brothers and their families who were able to
join us for our Christmas Party at The Burger
Company on December 21st. I hope you all
enjoyed the evening celebrating the season
together. I want to wish you all a Happy and
Healthy New Year. As we look forward into
the New Year and the second half or our
Fraternal Year, please take a moment to
spend some quiet time with our Lord in Pray-
er. Ask Him what His plan if for you in living
His plan for you. Does He want you to be
more Charitable? One way to respond to his
call may very well be to give more of your
time and talents to servicing others in our
Knights of Columbus Council 7343. Speak-
ing of how you can use those talents … I
must to continue to plead …
Our Council has an extremely important
need … as we cannot operate without a
Financial Secretary! PGK Mark Wahl
has continued to serve our Council. As
previously mentioned, Mark committed to
a three year term as Financial Secretary.
His term officially ended October 31st. He
has fulfilled this commitment with out-
standing dedication and performance.
We, I need a Worthy Brother to step up to
take on this important position. Next
Brother up! Please consider filling this
critical role in our Council. Why not you?
Brother Mark and all our PGK’s will gladly
answer any questions and support your
transition to this position.

That’s right, it’s an annual Christmas tradition. Mark calls Mike, Mike calls Bill, and they all run over to the Little Flower Assisted living facility to put up their Christmas lights for them. Fortunately, this year none of the usual gremlins showed up that some how make some of the lights quit working over the summer break. All went well and no replacements were needed as the Knights went to work hanging lights and decorations.
Shown from left to right are Santa’s cheerful elves, (all coincidentally are past Grand Knights) PGKs Mark Wahl, Mike Horeth, and Bill Edelen.

Cross In Charlotte
The Christmastime is a special time of year for all families. The excitement of the
birth of our Savior, prayerful reflection, and families reuniting are hallmarks of the
season. If you are like me, the Christmas tree is still up, gifts have been given,
and the visiting relatives have departed.
In that spirit, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Brother Knights
for a successful 2019. We are at the halfway mark of this fraternal year. Let us
continue to strive to fulfill Father McGivney’s vision by drawing more souls to
Christ in 2020!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
PS. If you’ve been meaning to speak with me, but have just been too busy or just didn’t get around to it...please don’t wait any longer. Make sure you are taking proper care of the BEST gift you have been given on this earth...your family.

For the Good of the Order:
Hey Brother Knight...did you know?
Did you know that praying for others is
a form of stewardship? Giving of your
valuable time in prayer for the needs of
others is a gift to God. Remember...our
lives are a gift from God...what we do
with them is our gift back to Him! Pray
unceasingly and carry your Rosary!
(From GK report on pg. 1)...church Bulletin or go to the
Church website at 4sjn.com to check the Mass sched-
ule. Our Council will be hosting the first Hospitality Sun-
day at SJN in the Parish Hall after the 8 am and 9:30 am
Masses. Please contact Marty Schneider if you can help
provide any pastries or breakfast cakes or breads. Also
how about helping serve the goodies by helping in the
kitchen after each Mass? As is tradition, we are helping
the Parish welcome in the New Year.
As we discussed in our last Council Business Meeting,
the K of C is moving to a single Ceremonial for the first 3
Degrees. So new members can quickly become fully
qualified Members to participate in all Council Officer
Positions. So if you are a 1st Degree Brother, you can
participate in this new Ceremonial to complete your 2nd
and 3rd Degree in a shorter Ceremonial. Another key
aspect is the secrecy is a thing of the past as family
members are now allowed to be present to attend the
Ceremonial.
I am hoping each of you 3rd
Degree Brothers and those
future 3rd Degree Brothers will
continue to prayerfully consid-
er working as a Council 7343
Officer. I am still in need of a
Deputy Grand Knight and a
Chancellor. Will you be one
to step up and help Council
7343 continue its mission?
If you have ever had the thought of how you might han-dle something differently, or have fresh ideas that could benefit our need to generate fundraising for our focus on Charity, our commitment to Community and our St. John Neumann Family, or any other worthy cause, please feel free to call me at (630) 842-5719 or you can email me at [email protected]. Better yet, come to our Council Business Meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to join us. Thanks and God Bless! Vivat Jesus!

Adorers Needed, SJN Needs You To Step Up!

Knights Adoration Security Help Wanted!
The Hispanic ministry has
responsibility for weeks 1 &
3. We still need help on
weeks 2 and 4. Please con-
tact PGK Mark Wahl and
PGK Mark Krouse to see
how YOU can help!
And Guys... Don’t forget…
Make sure you take some
time during your shift, even if
just for a few minutes, to go
in the Sanctuary and spend
time with Jesus. I promise
you, you’ll be glad you did!!!
From Our Chaplain:
At the Baptism of children,
parents and Godparents
are asked if they’re willing
to accept the obligation of
teaching their children the
Faith by word and example.
This is a great responsibility
& shouldn’t be taken lightly.
If parents meet this obliga-
tion, they’ll have the possi-
bility of being known as a
holy family... one that prac-
tices their faith diligently.
This means that parents
need to be parents! They
must teach their children
their prayers. The most
effective way would be to
pray together each day as
a family. Parents must also
discipline their children,
teaching them right from
wrong and about virtue and
sin. The best way is by liv-
ing a virtuous life & always
correcting a sinner. It also
means bringing your chil-
dren to Mass and Faith
formation each week too!
The highest expression of
our faith is the Mass.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. John

certainly doesn’t look very dangerous to me.”

7343’s Operation Bikes Rides Again Thank you to all of the parishioners of SJN and the Knights of Columbus. Our 5th annual bike drive has been a huge success and through your generous donations we were able to purchase 163 bicycles! (the most we have ever purchased!) Our goal this year was to expand the SJN footprint in our community. Through your generosity we were able to provide bicycles of all sizes to five different elementary schools , the St. John Neumann Giving Manger, Operation Santa’s Helpers, and both Our Lady of Consolation and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Churches here in Charlotte. None of this could not be done without your generosity!!!
A big thank you to Brian Allio and his son Matt, Dave Adams, Don Zaron, Mike Munao, Bill Edelen, Norm Las-kowsky, Dave Maher, Robert Gregory and Larry Sladek for helping out picking up and transporting the bikes to their various destinations. John CasaSanta & Mike Horeth
From left to right the big kids on the block are: PGK Brian Allio, PGK Mike Horeth, Matt Allio, PKG Bill Edelen,

More Smiles From SJN Operation Bikes
Special thanks also to BrightView Landscape Services and PGK Brian Allio for bringing the large truck to help the
little pickup trucks transport the 163 bikes from the Walmart store to their various destinations around Charlotte.
Most of us remember that Christmas or birthday when we got our first bike-the excitement-the smiles, especially
the smiles! Those smiles are what made all of this work SO worth it. Thanks again to all the SJN parishioners
and members of the Knights of Columbus who donated funds and their time to such a worthy cause. God Bless!
