Our God is always more the lover than the beloved. He loves us more than we love him. It is his love for us that made him embrace the cross and come forth from the tomb. My favorite scripture passage (and the one I have chosen for my funeral) is the Gospel of John 21:15-19. Three times the Risen Lord asks Peter, “Do you love me?” Certainly in this instance Peter is given the opportunity to move beyond his threefold denial. The resurrection gives strength for love to overcome fear. But in the passage there is something more happening. There are two Greek words used for love, agapao and fileo. Some scholars suggest there is no difference between the two. I subscribe to those scholars who say the evangelist John knows the difference and wants believers to know it as well. Love that is agapao is the love with which Christ loves. It is unconditional, radical, total. Love that is fileo is friendship love. In the first two questions Jesus asks Peter if his love is unconditional, sacrificial, total. “Peter is your love agapao?” Peter responds to Jesus saying “ I love you as a friend.” The third time Jesus asks the question he meets Peter where he is at and asks if Peter loves him as a friend. Peter knows that his love for the Risen Lord is not anywhere near the love Christ has for him. But it is the best Peter has to offer at the moment. Our God accepts our love, poor and fragile and timid though it may be. Our God loves us more than we love him. He wants us to know that, even if he has to die to prove it. The Lord be with you. Father John Parr

MEN’S SUNDAY SCRIPTURE STUDY
Parishioner Emil Meindl will be continuing the Sunday Scripture Study for Gentlemen only beginning April
30th. This Scripture Study will be held on Monday evenings from 7:00 – 8:00 pm in the Guest Room across from the kitchen in the church. Come and join other men for fellowship and support and to learn how the Sunday readings relate to your daily life. The readings will be provided for you, but bring a bible if you have one. Hope to see you there!
ELIZABETH MINISTRY
Thank you to all those who have sent back your Stewardship pledge card. If by chance you are still hanging on to yours, could you drop it off in the offertory basket at Mass or mail it to the office. Out of the 901 registered families, we have only received 248. These cards are important updates for our ministries, your family data, and for budget purposes. Please remember to turn them back in as soon as possible. Thank you.
We will have our first gathering of women interested in becoming volunteers for our new Elizabeth Ministry on Tuesday, April 24th, at 6:30 pm in the Gathering Place. We welcome women of all ages who have had experiences with infertility, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, birth, adoption, or infant crisis. Come and see how you can help us serve the young families of our parish. Please call or email Carol Reider in the parish office if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you.
MARCH 2018-KNIGHT and FAMILY OF THE MONTH Knight: Brother Leonard Beranek is our Knight of the month for providing the potatoes for our Super Bowl breakfast, his cooking for the Huberters Sportsman’s Night, and his electrical help for the parish. Thank you Len for all that you have done and continue to do! Family: Emil and Lindsey Meindl are our March Family of the Month for sharing faith and what stewardship meant to them. They are also leading a Bible Study program for faith enrichment. Thank you Emil and Lindsey and may God bless you!

It’s never too late for Sacramental Prep Last weekend 30 children celebrated their First Holy Communion here at St. Elizabeth’s. Typically the children re-ceive this sacrament in second grade. However, every year we are blessed with children who join us that are older, who have missed out on this sacrament when they were younger for some reason or another. If this is the case for your children, this note is to let you know it’s not too late! Don’t delay any longer! Pat Brueggen and I will find an education/sacrament preparation plan that best fits your child. Faith formation registration forms will be mailed out to parishioners in the beginning of May. If you are not a member, please stop in to pick up forms or find them on our website seasholmen.org. Please make a note if your child needs to receive the sacraments and we will get them started. The Simple Living group will be celebrating today, Earth Day, April
22nd, with information after each Mass about the new "Our Common Home Prairie" project. They will have "certificates" available for purchase to help pay for seeds for the new prairie restoration project. These certificates would make great gifts for Mother's Day, graduation, or any other celebration!
Also, after each Mass this weekend, the Simple Living group will have vegetable seeds available for people to take for their own garden. Use the seeds to add produce to your dinner table, and if you are able, share some of your abundance with the Food Pantry.
Please join us on Sunday, May 6th after the 10:15 Mass for a Square Foot Gardening workshop! The workshop will demonstrate how to build a square foot garden as well as how to organize and plant for maximum harvest.
In the planning stage is a new “Welcoming and Informational sign” to be constructed at the entrance of St. Elizabeth Ann Seaton Parish. This solid brick monument will allow communication to traffic passing by and anyone entering from the main entrance. Our goal is to have long term information such as Mass times, special holiday Mass times, and maybe an appropriate scripture verse. It will replace the current aluminum informational sign. The structure now used for banners will be moved over to the NW island also near the entrance. We welcome any input you may have after viewing a close replica picture of the monument sign on the tri pod in the gathering place. A note that presently Village of Holmen Zoning policies are discouraging any lighting or digital electronic wording boards from being applied for. Contact anyone of our Parish Council members to express your thoughts by April 30th.
