THE JOHN ARMIN TROPHY 2011
Many clubs throughout the North East Region are already aware that the ClaveringTrophy is to been renamed for the coming 2011 season. The competition is to berenamed after one of Annfield Plain Cricket Clubs more popular and colourfulmembers John Armin, who sadly died prior to the 2010 season. Annfield PlainCricket Club is bringing an exciting new format to the competition which willhopefully benefit midweek cup cricket within the region.
We are all aware of the current precarious financial situation with income being hardto generate and all clubs are looking for ways to increase revenue to enable us tocontinue to operate successfully. This exciting new format has been developed inorder to attract more spectators and bring regular midweek cup cricket to clubsthroughout the season. Coloured clothing is to be worn and coloured balls used.
The competition will be played over 15 overs and in zonal groups with all games tobe played on Friday evenings. The zonal games will mean minimal travelling andregular home cup ties throughout May, June and July, when many clubs no longerinvolved in cup competitions. The idea is that clubs can make this a focal point ofthe week which will attract more people into the ground and using the facilities.Music , Barbecues and commentary can be used to create the party atmosphere andreally capture the spirit of the game.
Due to the zonal format each entering clubs will be guaranteed a number of homegames and therefore hopefully help to increase club revenue. Ideally there will be 3or

4 zones depending on entry with the top 2 teams in each group culminating in a finalsday at Annfield Plain Cricket Club.
Clubs within the NTSCL will be given the first opportunity to enter the competitionfollowed by invitations being made to other clubs within the region who havehistorically entered the old Clavering Trophy. I hope you agree this is an excitingnew format and one which will not only capture the interest across all ages but alsoassist in generating income.

Competition Rules
• 15 Overs per Side• 5 Bowlers• 60 minutes to bowl overs• Coloured Clothing / Coloured Balls• 30 yard fielding circle• 2 fielders outside circle in first 5 overs• 5 fielders outside circle in last 10 overs• Super Over incase of a Tie
• 1 Minute to get to the crease• Free Hits• Super Over ( in the event of a tie a super over will be
played each team has 2 wickets , batsmen chosen bycaptain )
• Minimum 5 Bowlers• Leg-side wides• Front Foot No Ball Free Hits• Super Over ( in the event of a tie a super over will be
bowled, bowler to chosen by the captain )

CLOTHING, BALLS & MUSICBALLSPINK / ORANGE balls will be used , colour to be decided at a later date, use of thesecolours means clubs can use their current sight screens without the need for blacksheets.
CLOTHINGEach club will be responsible for their own clothing , to assist in this Annfield PlainCricket Club have spoken to a local supplier and using contacts have been able tosecure some very good prices for competition entrants, all information is attached.
MUSICAlthough optional, Annfield Plain Cricket Club can supply a CD containingappropriate music shorts for , Wickets, 4’s & 6’s and Batsmen Arrival.

ZONAL GROUPSEach group will be constructed once the entries have been submitted , the groups willbe organized based on the clubs geographical position therefore allowing for lesstravel to games and also allowing away fans a short journey in order to support theirteam in all games , thus hopefully allowing for more people watching each game andan increased revenue to the clubs.

Clothing can be supplied at very competitive prices secured by Annfield PlainCricket Club for competition entrants , All clubs can decide on club colours andprices include club badge embroidery.
