The 2+2 ProgramEarning a Dual Degree at One of Our Partner Universities

Trinity University in Texas USA, and the University of Rhode Island have entered into partnership with Tunghai University (THU) to develop a plan for an International Bachelor’s (2+2) program for THU students. For students who elect this option, the Bachelor of Arts degree will be delivered partly at THU and partly in the United States. The educational objective of the program is to prepare students to be proficient in the language, society, and culture of both countries.

How It Works:1. After 2 years of study at Tunghai University, THU students will transfer to a partner institution to complete the bachelor’s

degree within the next two years (2+2).2. THU applicants (2+2) must submit the official results of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or the

IELTS (International English Language Testing System), or the Pearson Test of English taken within the past two years. The minimum score on the Paper-based TOEFL is 550; the computer-based 213 or iBt score 79. Minimum requirement for the IELTS is a 6.5, and the minimum requirement for the Pearson Test of English is 53.

3. THU applicants (2+2) must submit an official transcript demonstrating completion of coursework equivalent to the partner institution’s General Education and major requirement through the sophomore year. The Office of Admissions at the partner institution must approve all transfer credit.

4. (2+2) THU students will pay THU tuition and fees during the first two years of their Bachelor’s program at THU. They will pay tuition and fees to Trinity University or the University of Rhode Island during their second two years of study (2+2) at the partner institution.

5. Each student is responsibly for living expenses, including during extended academic recess (e.g., summer, winter and spring breaks), all transportation costs, books and supplies, health insurance, and personal and incidental expenses.
