We offer an infrastructure fabric that moves various util-ity services ‘inNetwork’, consolidating the deployment, administration, and management of those services and allowing the servers and storage attached to the fabric to be used for what they’re intended for – applications.

In effect, we leapfrog application-aware networking, where the network is only adaptable to the needs of the application, and enable network-aware applications, where applications have true control, visibility, and awareness of the network infrastructure. Current dis-cussions surrounding overlays and underlays become moot.

No one has virtualized the compute-network combina-tion the way Pluribus has done, as a natural extension of the DevOps server-computing model. The platform represents the most forward-looking, application-cen-tric platform architecture that exists today, with the network a natural extension of the server. Alternative approaches predicated on stacking together a high-end or white-box switch, a server, and storage does not offer this capability since applications on the server have no control of the switch.

The company’s products are now deployed by custom-ers in over 20 countries, and OEM relationships with both TIBCO and China SuperCloud.

Pluribus Networks was founded to address the needs of CIOs and IT managers seeking to transform the network from a cost-center to a strategic, revenue-gen-erating asset, more relevant to applications. Key target markets include private clouds and scale-out data cen-ters with OpenStack, SDN deployments that eliminate scalability bottlenecks of traditional controller-based approaches, and enterprises looking to gain efficiency by closer coupling of their applications with the net-work.

In essence, we offer an infrastructure platform to address the needs of users whose network is their business, enabling inNetwork virtualization, analytics, NFV, and storage. To accomplish this, the company has developed a unique, fused hardware architecture that provides close coupling of compute, switching, and storage, managed by our open, distributed hardware independent network OS. This is our Freedom Serv-er-Switch and Netvisor® OS.

Our products bring the network and applications closer together, optimizing overall network, compute, and storage OPEX and CAPEX, and unifying the DevOps and NetOps orchestration, management, and automa-tion paradigms in a way that truly addresses key OPEX challenges surrounding the delivery of application-level SLAs. The solution eliminates the tradeoffs of current approaches that lack operational efficiency by sub-op-timal use of assets, scalability, don’t offer visibility into overlay and underlay networks, and many times man-date rip-and-replace to try to achieve any advantages.

“The Pluribus Networks Freedom architecture is a disruptive combination of software and hardware technolo-gies. By running Oracle Solaris on it, Oracle Solaris can control Compute, Network and Storage technologies, which can help eliminate bottlenecks that would impact the application performance.” - Markus Flierl, Vice President, Oracle Solaris

“With the Pluribus platform, we found a disruptive combination of low-latency/high-performance networking blended with high-end compute capabilities to deliver a ground-breaking messaging plat-form with no equal in the industry.” - Denny Page, Tibco

“5% of Internet Traffic Runs Through CloudFlare global infrastructure relying on Pluribus Networks” - Matthew Prince, CloudFlare

“OpenCompute is promoting switch hard-ware that has the near minimum features and functions in the design. On the other end of the scale are companies like Pluribus Net-works who are delivering network switches as applications.” - Greg Ferro, Ethereal Mind Blog

“Pluribus has created the first true ‘infra-structure fabric’…. Allowing servers and storage attached to the fabric to be used for what they’re intended for – applica-tions.” - Bob McCouch, Herding Packets

Our products include both hardware and software. For hardware we offer the Freedom Server-Switch line of 1 and 2U server-switches, all fusing network, compute and storage in a single compact unit. We leverage mer-chant silicon from Intel, Broadcom and Marvell with 10 and 40GE interfaces in order to deliver the best possi-ble bang for the buck.

Our software offering is Netvisor OS, our open, distrib-uted network operating system with C, Java, Perl and Python APIs. The Netvisor is a single point of manage-ment offering all switches a single view of the fabric and flow programmability, offering visibility and control to inNetwork services. The Pluribus Netvisor is also offered as a standalone offering for company-spec’d ODM ‘white boxes.’
