LTG ANNOUNCEMENT
Hello, Red Devils!
With just a few short
months left in this term,
now is the time to reflect
on our growth together as
a division and the chang-
es we have brought to
the community. New club
officers are installed, so be
sure to help eachother
succeed by using this time
before DCON to reflect
on the responsibilities of
running a club. Together,
we are wprking towards
leaving a GOLDEN lega-
cy. I’m so proud of you all
for the dedication you’ve
put forth over this term;
Stay strong in these next
few months, and get
ready to recognize the
great things we do as an
organization at DCON!
In burning service,
Leon Pan

Hi everyone!
Can you believe March is here? Guess
what's coming up?! DCON! I hope eve-
ryone has sent in their registration dues,
because District Convention is some-
thing you don't want to miss out on! Re-
member to keep fundraising for DCON,
because it IS expensive, but don't let
the price scare you. On top of that, let's
keep raising money for the Eliminate
Project! Keep in mind that every club
has their own goal to reach, so keep
striving and don't give up! If there's any
questions or concerns about ANYTHING,
don't be afraid to ask. I won't bite!
Hope to see you all very soon!
Vivian Chong EA
Hello Red Devils!
DCON is next month, and I hope many
of you plan to attend this event! This will
be my first DCON and I am so very ex-
cited that I am able to attend this year!
Please keep fundraising so you and
many other members of your club can
get a cheaper price to attend!
In other news, elections for club officers
have finally happened! I hope all the
new officers will attend DCON and be
inspired to be the greatest officers that
they can be.
Along with fundraising, please make sure you are reaching your community
service hour goals as well. It is im-
portant to fundraise, but it is just as im-
portant to help our community.
See you all soon! 5

“During The past Month, our club
prepared Valentine’s Day Candy
Grams as a fundraiser. During lunch,
we set up a table outside and tried
to gather people's attention in order
to sell the grams. The grams were
then delivered to the recipients on
Valentine’s Day during school..”

“College Park's main focus for the
past month has been fundraising
for DCON and organizing our of-
ficer elections. These have been
going well so far, and there will
be a significant increase in DCON
attendees in April! We were able
to volunteer at two crab feeds
and gathered tips which went to
alleviate the cost of DCON. Be-
sides serving food, we have gar-
dened, sorted food at the food
bank, and planned more logistics
regarding our Mini-Relay for life to
be held at College Park. “
Monica Willemsz, President

“Twice we have worked as waiters at a crab feed along
with the Kiwanis and Special Olympics in Pleasant Hill. The
first time we worked at the Crab Feed, things were
smooth with a total of 9 members. The second time, things
were a bit hectic due to an influx of 22 members. Howev-
er, we still enjoyed out job, especially in our dress code of
white shirts and black pants.”

8>> Club Updates & Community Service
“Our club has been staying busy with fundraising
and planning for upcoming volunteer services. We
have been collecting money for the Pennies for
Patients fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lympho-
ma Society, and we plan on finishing up and
counting the money at the end of the month to
turn in. We currently have a volunteer event com-
ing up with the Food Bank's Crab Feed, and or-
ganizing carpools for some events that may be
out of town. We also just finished our club elections
for next year's term and gave a warm club wel-
come (and re-welcome) to new, and re-elected
officers.” Lesliejane Pada, President
This month, we participated in the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Ser-
vice at our school. This was a big volunteering event that our Key
Club played a huge role in organizing and participating in, and
we even had the mayor of Concord come by to speak to us and
see us work. This event was broken down into many different ser-
vice projects with work varying from gardening, organizing class-
rooms, and cleaning the campus and classrooms.

“Our car wash fundraiser for DCON will be
during the first few weeks of March. We will
use some of that money to both donate to
Project Eliminate and for our DCON expens-
es. Key Club, Club Interact, and the rest of
the community service clubs at Pittsburg
High are also organizing a school rally to pro-
test against the WesPac oil terminal project.”
Roy Golingan, President
Pittsburg Key Club is continuing to collabo-
rate with Club Interact and other school
clubs to help spread awareness of this
WesPac project. Recently, we attended a
conference on planning this school rally
and contacting the news broadcasters to
come and televise the community’s con-
cerns. Together with the Pittsburg Defense
Council, our voices are being heard
through the community and especially to-
wards the city officials. We will continue to
protest against this project until it is de-
clared that it will not continue in the cities of
The Delta. In addition to stopping this pro-
ject, we are proposing alternative plans to
that target area such as a new park, or a
green energy source.

On January 26, 2014,
we gathered as a divi-
sion at Studio One Art
Center in Oakland, CA
to elect the 2014-2015
Lieutenant Governor. The
three candidates, Roy
Golingan of Pittsburg
High, Vivian Chong of
College Park, and Jen-
nifer Lam (our new 2014-
15 LTG elect) of Concord
High each demonstrated
their love for Key Club in
distinctive ways on this
fateful day. 10

“Wow…It still hasn't hit me that I'm
Leon's elect. Thank you for believing in
me and thank you to everyone who
came out to support me, along with
my amazing and tough competition,
Vivian & Roy. It's only a month and
some time until I'll be installed. I will do
my best to continue the legacy of this
amazing journey our division is going
through. Without a doubt, it's all of
you who inspire me to lead.”

At Division-wide events like Conclave
and our monthly DCMs, we get to
see Key Clubbers from all over the ar-
ea come together and work towards
a common goal. Together, we con-
spire in the hopes of creating the best
future possible for ourselves, our
clubs, and those who will follow in our
footsteps. Because of our unwavering
commitment to helping one another,
we progress forward every day. Att-
nding division-wide events is by far
the best way to stay in the loop.

LOOKING AHEAD:
—DCON info—
What is DCON?
A district convention where all of
CNH comes together to celebrate
our achievements, learn new skills,
meet other members, and get ready
for the new term. In other words…
the BEST Key Club experience of your
life, hands down.
GOALS: “Our District Goals this year incorporate the gold-
en theme. As one district, our aim is 46,000 members. As divi-
sions, we want to work towards contributing to a goal of
$150,000 for Pediatric Trauma Program. As clubs, we want to
come together to serve 1,000,000 hours of service. As indi-
vidual members, we want to save 3 lives from maternal/
neonatal tetanus. Together, this will bring us to one GOLDEN
year. With your help, we will undoubtedly achieve these
goals and have more to celebrate when DCON comes
around!”

“DCON was my Key Club mo-
ment. I went to the 2012 District
Convention and it completely trans-
formed my perspective on Key Club
and service. I came into contact
with the spirited energy of Key Club
through the amazing workshops,
and I got to listen to awesome, mo-
tivational speakers. Most important-
ly, I made memories with the friends
I made from all over the Cali-Nev-
Ha District.”

Hey Red Devils!
It’s nearly Spring already—can you believe it?! As we make the
seasonal transition, it’s also a time to notice changes happening
within us. This term we’ve seen an explosive growth of division-
wide service, commitment, and spirit. Now is the time for us to rec-
ognize all the great things we have accomplished—which we will
celebrate at DCON– and look forward to a future of continuing
this legacy. Keep your goals, both division issued and personal, in
mind and close to your heart over these next few months, and re-
member that your actions make a difference everyday. Keep
serving, Red Devils! I’m proud of you. Desiree Choe, DNE
