Happy February, Red Devils!
Thank you all for attending Conclave
2014 at Studio One Art Center! It was an
amazing event and one that was espe-
cially moving for me, as I got to see the
delegates of our division vote for the
candidate who will eventually continue
my legacy and bring this division to new
heights in the 2014-2015 term.
With just a few short months left of this
term, I highly encourage all of you to
think and reflect on the past few
months, on your leadership growth, and
the many changes that you have
brought to your club and to your com-
munity. To all club officers, remember
that your club elections should be held
by February 25, and that the time after
until DCON should be used effectively
to train your elects.
You all have a GOLDEN legacy to leave
behind. I want to thank all of you for the
BEEautiful work that you've done, for the
lives that you have changed, and I
hope you will continue to use the re-
maining months in order to build even
further on your own legacy.
In burning service,
Leon Pan Lieutenant Governor

Hello! Can you all believe that we're already a
month into 2014? This means that District Con-
vention is in 3 months! For those who don't
know what District Convention is, it's a conven-
tion where our CNH district gathers together to
celebrate all of the money we have raised for
Pediatric Trauma Program, UNICEF, etc. It's a 3-
day event all planned out for you. It's filled with
workshops (fun and informational ones!), gen-
eral sessions with everyone, and of course,
Governor Ball! District Convention 2013 made
me fall in love with Key Club and everything
that we do. I highly encourage everyone to try
to attend this amazing life-changing event! It
may seem far from now, but start fundraising
as soon as possible! It's right around the corner.
So please, think about it and try to attend. You
won't regret it! I hope to see all of you very
soon, but until then, stay safe and serve!
Hello Red Devils!
It's finally the new year! Hope this year
brings everyone the greatest luck!
Many of you guys are also approaching
finals, or have already taken finals. I hope
you do, and did, well on them! I sure
hope I do well on mine.
I hope all clubs have found ways to fund-
raise for The Eliminate Project and
DCON! If you still need some ideas,
PLEASE contact me for some ideas. I am
more than happy to help you
guys! Remember that there is a new law
passed stating that schools cannot have
any more bakes sales, which takes its toll
on the student body in the state of Califor-
nia. However, it opens us to think of creat-
ing new fundraising ideas!
Hope to see many of you at the January
DCM!

GOALS
Hopefully, as we’ve progressed through the term, these goals have become less
daunting and more attainable. If you’re still far away from your club goal, here
are some things you can do: reach out to any member of the DLT, call a board
meeting to brainstorm with your officers, and reach out to other clubs! We’re all
one biig Ohana—everybody is happy to help everybody.

It’s already a month into 2014! So what have we been up
to? From volunteering at local events to planning inner club
affairs to helping out at rallies, all of Division 26 North far and
wide has been busy doing what we do best—making a
statement in the community.
“Our club is in the process of preparing to fund-
raise; we have been brainstorming ideas, one of
them being selling candy grams for Valentine's
Day. “
“During the last month, a really big event we participated in was a
crab feed, which took place at a local church called Holy Rosary.
Our primary job was to act as servers, continuously bringing out
food to the seated guests. We also were available to assist them if
they needed help with anything. Overall this was a great experi-
ence for our club and we are looking forward to helping out at
more events like this. “ Chun Leung, President

“December was a slow month for us due to winter
break taking up the majority of it. During December
we did, however, start service projects to be complet-
ed in January and February. We began fundraising for
the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics in early February
and had members begin to sign up. We also planned
a trip to San Francisco to donate necessities to the
homeless to be executed in late January/ early Febru-
ary after fundraising. We wrote letters to Santa in one
meeting to take to Macy’s. For every letter written Ma-
cy’s donated $1 to the Make-A-Wish foundation. We
assisted with Teacher Appreciation Week at our school
by putting gifts in teacher’s mailboxes as well as rec-
ognizing our own advisor. We were not able to attend
the DCM.
During the beginning of January we regrouped and
came back to our goals as a club and goals for mem-
bership and we are planning to have a membership
drive during the next two weeks. We will be attending
the conclave and have begun the process of plan-
ning and fundraising for those going to DCON. Lastly
we are serving at a crab feed through the Boy’s and
Girl’s Club and all tips collected will go toward necessi-
ties for the homeless. “

“We have been in contact with several organizations. We will
be helping at the Food Bank several times in the spring. In ad-
dition we plan to make pillowcases for the organization ConK-
err Cancer, and sending them to hospitals such as John Muir
and Children's Hospital. For Valentine's Day we will be selling
Valentine grams to raise money for Eliminate. We've created a
DCON promo video and are pumping up for convention.”

Idea!
“Our club feels it is very important to establish a good rep
among the school staff, so we held a teacher classroom clean
up! The Friday we got out for break, our members stayed after
school for 2 hours to scrape gum, wipe desks, and clean white-
boards for 12 teachers’ classrooms. This is the second time
we’ve done a clean up this year, and each time the teachers
are overjoyed and impressed with our willingness to clean for a
cause. They were very generous; we raised over $100 for
DCON!” Vanessa Martinez, V.P

“With the new year, College Park is pushing for inter-club
events. All of our food banks recently and in the future are
joint events, and we are in the process of planning an inter
club/inter district/interdivision-wide event. Several fundraisers
are planned for the upcoming month, and preparation for
DCON has begun with the help of Kiwanis. Elections are
planned for within the coming weeks as well as officer training
sessions. A lot of planning, but that's good.”
Monica Willemsz, President
“This month CPHS Key Club volunteered at the food bank four times! We also in-
vited CPHS CSF to help us out at the Food Bank and future volunteer events. At
the Food Bank, we sorted foods as usual, but this time we sorted oranges instead
of apples. We had plenty of fun sorting the foods, and at the end of the day we
managed to get a lot done. “ Minami Coleman, Club Editor

“Coming back from Winter Break, our
club has been focusing on getting
started up for the new year. We are
preparing for DCon with individual
fundraisers going on, and are also
planning other possible fundraisers.
Members are also preparing their
campaigns to be elected or re-
elected for officers for our club's up-
coming officer election. We also are
planning for more volunteer events
for the next month and looking into a
variety of events that we could par-
ticipate in.” Lesliejane Pada,

“Northgate Key Club vol-
unteered for the Contra
Costa and Solano Food
Bank over the winter
break. We helped sort
and package the fresh
fruits so they could be sent
throughout the communi-
ty. During February, we
will be having our club
elections to recognize
and train new officers.”

“Recently, our club was signing up for delegates and attendees
for Conclave. We have about 7 coming through to the event.
Other than that, we are finalizing our fundraisers for the District
Convention.”
“We participated in the WesPac rally in downtown
Pittsburg. It was a rally protesting against the WesPac
oil refinery and freight terminal proposal that threat-
ens the safety of the surrounding neighborhoods. Sev-
eral of Pittsburg High students, along with other ser-
vice clubs, volunteered in the rally and helped with
the march to City Hall. We sent out the community’s
voice to those with the power to stop this project.”

The 68th Annual Cali-Nev-Ha District Convention will be
held in Sacramento, CA on April 11-13, 2014.
LOOKING AHEAD:
—DCON—
What is DCON?
A district convention where all of
CNH comes together to celebrate
our achievements, learn new skills,
meet other members, and get ready
for the new term. In other words…
the BEST Key Club experience of your
life, hands down.
GOALS: “Our District Goals this year incorporate the gold-
en theme. As one district, our aim is 46,000 members. As divi-
sions, we want to work towards contributing to a goal of
$150,000 for Pediatric Trauma Program. As clubs, we want to
come together to serve 1,000,000 hours of service. As indi-
vidual members, we want to save 3 lives from maternal/
neonatal tetanus. Together, this will bring us to one GOLDEN
year. With your help, we will undoubtedly achieve these
goals and have more to celebrate when DCON comes
around!”

Hey Red Devils!
Wow. So we’re a month into
the new year already, and
we’ve got a mountain of ob-
stacles facing us (as a divi-
sion and as individuals). This
is a pivotal time of year; it’s
the time when we start mak-
ing transitions, preparing to
say goodbye to this term be-
fore we know it. So, as al-
ways, make sure you’re striv-
ing to be the best Key Club-
ber and person you can be;
keep serving, keep planning,
keep asking questions when
you need to, and never lose
sight of what lies ahead.
Soon enough, we’ll come to-
gether to recognize and cel-
ebrate our tremendous ac-
complishments. But until
then… grind now and shine
later.
Have a lovely February!
