The History of The Computer and The Internet

By Michael P.I.T. 5th

The Z1 ComputerMade in 1936 by Konrad Zuse. Rebuilt in 1986.

Where The Term “Debug” Came About

The computer that first had a bug really had a bug in it. The computer stop working so the people who were keeping track of it took it apart and checked every piece of it. They found a moth in one of the ports that runs the computer. Now people use the term bug to indicate that something is wrong with the computer or it is not working.

The Internet

The internet was made in 1960’s. It was made for the U.S. Department of Defense so the they could share information with each other and other researchers. It was released to the public in 1998 by the invention of the World Wide Web. It was made by the Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Babbage’s Analytical Engine

It was basically a giant calculator the could print mathematic tables. It was designed to evaluate any mathematical formula.

Herman Hollerith’s Tabulating Machine

Herman Hollerith’s tabulating machine was invented for census.

ENIAC I (Electrical Numerical Integrator And Calculator)

It was a computer made for the army to calculate artillery-firing tables so that the can be accurate. It was made in WWII at Philadelphia

What Is a Program?

A program is what make a computer run. It is made of a list of instructions.

What was the benefit of the transistor replacing vacuum tubes?

Well vacuum tubes used to much electricity, generated a lot of heat and needed to be repaired and checked on a lot. While on the other hand the transistor was the first thing ever made to act both a transmitter and a resistor. It modulates electronic currents.

The first microcomputer

The Altair 8800. Ed Roberts

The Binary System

The binary system is based on 1’s and 0’s. It helps the computer run.
