Heidegger Circle 2019 Call For Papers The Heidegger Circle invites you to submit papers to its 53rd Annual Meeting

hosted by Nazareth College in Rochester, NY, May 16-19, 2019.

Conference Theme: Freedom We invite you to submit papers on any aspect of Heidegger’s thought, with the suggestion that the theme of “freedom” be a significant starting point for reflection with Heidegger’s works in mind. We will continue to accept several kinds of paper submissions:

Traditional Submissions: Traditional papers to be read aloud and published in the Proceedings. These submissions should be no more than 4000 words (excluding notes & references) and prepared for blind review. Please include a 250-word abstract. The reading time for your paper should be 20 minutes or less. Panel proposals: Three or four presenters making a brief presentation (up to ten minutes each) giving their thoughts on the panel topic, with a significant amount of the remaining time given over to discussion with each other and with the conference attendees. Panel proposals are strongly encouraged. Please include a 500 word abstract for each participant and a 250-word panel abstract.

Oral Presentations: Presenter gives a fifteen-minute oral presentation, leaving substantial time for questions and discussion with the conference attendees. These nontraditional presentations may be one individual or two related presentations. Oral presentations, offering a fuller opportunity for discussion, are strongly encouraged. Please include a 250-word abstract, draft of remarks, outline, or brief paper of 2500 words to be included in the Proceedings but not read in the traditional format. These should be prepared for blind review. General Formatting Guidelines: Submissions should be in .doc or .docx version 2010 or later (please, no PDF submissions). 12 point font, Times New Roman, 1” margins on all sides, footnotes (10 point font), no endnotes. Call 585-381-4000. The deadline for reservations is April 16, 2019 but you are strongly encouraged to make your reservation before March 16, 2019 (and then cancel if necessary). Dorms: You may also book a room (two room/shared bathroom suite) in the dorms on the Nazareth College campus ($45/night).
