To all Members and Members to be,
Here it is July and it seems that we are just spinning our wheels with
everything going on with the pandemic. We have managed to participate on
a few rides when things did let up. I know that everyone is practicing safe
distancing and are still worried about getting together as a group. We did
have a non-organizational get together at Larry and Suzi Krack’s residence
and fun was had by all that attended and it was good to see everyone.
Next month for those that would like to attend there will be a gathering at
Archie and Clyde’s. We will have the two rooms and the tables are set up
six feet apart and six chairs to a table. There are no exceptions on the
seating. Chairs and tables cannot be moved. The staff will be watching as
they have set guide lines to follow and we can lose our meeting place if we
do not adhere to the guide lines that are in place.
If you are wanting to take some online classes from the GWRRA web site
just go online and see if there is something you would be interested in
doing and sign up. You can also participate in some games being
administered by the district team. They have a district scrabble game that
any chapter member can enter. There is a winner every month and the
prize will be fifty dollars. If there is a tie a drawing will be held to determine
the winner.
If you are participating in any of the rides be sure to do all your bike
inspections and obey all traffic rules and be courteous and keep an eye out
for distracted drivers on the roads especially at intersections. Let us all do
our part in being safe so we all can enjoy the rest of the riding season and
talk about what we did enjoy in the next few months.
Ride safe so we can meet again,
Vernon Hunt and Diane Angermeier

Chapter O, July 2020
Hello,
Mary and I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July
celebration. Our holiday plans will include The Bootlegger, The Snake, and
The Back of the Dragon, all roads In the mountains of Virginia. Stops at gift
shops are a certainty and we are hoping to find a new T shirt or two. We
would like for everyone to know that however you decide to celebrate and
whomever you choose to be with, to always appreciate the fellowship that
you all provide for each other as one of life’s blessings. Take care and God
bless you all.
Jim and Mary Swanson
Hello, Chapter O. I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this
unprecedented times in our lives. The world has been going crazy these days,
and we all miss the meetings and having big groups together. Hopefully one of
these days we will get back together again. I miss each and everyone of you
all.

John & Ginny Edwards
John and Ginny joined Chapter O in 2011. Ginny has served as our
historian and John has been the auctioneer at our Christmas parties for
many years.
John has two children: a daughter, Star who is 58 and John Henry is 53.
Ginny has a son, Shaun who is 50. Their grandchildren include: 6 grandsons
and 4 granddaughters. They have 13 great grandchildren.
John was a school bus driver, deck hand at Casino Aztar, housekeeping at
Holiday World, and storeroom attendant at Alcoa. Ginny has been a bus aid
for special needs children, school nurse, registered nurse, paramedic, Red
Cross instructor, and a 911 operator.
Ginny’s interests include: jewelry, crafting, sewing, gardening, camping and
travel. John’s interests include: gardening, reading and travel.
The motorcycles they have owned include:
1974 750 cc Honda Shadow
1988 gray 1500 Goldwing
1994 red Goldwing
1993 white 1500 Goldwing
1990 1500 blue Goldwing
The Edwards most memorable ride was in 2017 when they rode 3700
miles from their home in Selvin,
Indiana to Colorado Springs,
Colorado. Then they went to
Albuquerque, New Mexico and to
El Paso, Texas before coming home.
They had family in those three
areas. They have used their
motorcycle camper on many trips,
especially this trip.
John and Ginny feel that God has
richly blessed them.

Trailer Safety
This is the time of the year where the weather is warm, the rain is (mostly) gone, and
the days are long. This is the time of the year when we all love to take long trips on
our bikes and visit fun far off places. Many of us will pack up the bike, hook up the
trailer, load it with all of the essentials, and head on down the road to favorite
destinations with our co-pilot safely tucked away on the back seat. What's not to like
about that?
As with any other type of vehicle it’s important to make sure your trailer’s lights are in
good working order. Before every trip you should check to be sure that the tail lights,
turn signal indicators and brake lights are in good working order. It seems a small
thing but if your brake lights aren’t working you could get a very rude surprise in the
form of a vehicle through the back of your trailer.
If it's been a while since you have pulled a trailer, take a few minutes and get
reacquainted with braking. With the additional weight, you will need additional
braking distance. The feel of the motorcycle may be a little different while braking.
Also, be aware of the additional width of the trailer. This is especially important for
two wheelers. You don't want to get that big surprise when you pull into the fuel
pump and your trailers wheel hits the island.
Lastly, be conscience when loading that trailer. Make sure the load is evenly displaced.
Make sure that everything is properly secured. You do not want the load shifting
while motoring down to road with momma on the back, she most definitely will not
appreciate that. When loading the trailer, be aware of the tongue weight and take
care not to exceed the safe load limit for the rear tire. A tire failure at speed with a
trailer in tow will ruin your vacation plans in a hurry.
Stay safe, enjoy the ride, and cherish the memories.

Indiana District Southern Indiana Ride July 11-12th 2020
Several District Team members pre-rode the route and it’s a
FANTASTIC collection of curvy, hilly, and panoramic roads. More than
once I heard “Are we really in Indiana?”! Ed Feldt has done a
tremendous job getting the ride planned. The ride will leave from the
Bedford Quality Inn at 9:00 on July 11. If you want to come in the night
before, we’ll be staying at the Bedford Quality Inn (see below). We’ll
spend Saturday night at the Super 8 in Corydon. The ride Sunday will
leave at 9 am sharp and is planned to end at Stone’s Restaurant in
Millhousen. There are multiple hotel choices in both Bedford and
Corydon and you’re welcome to stay wherever you want. We have no
deals or discounts for the Quality Inn and Super 8 (we stayed there on
the pre-ride and they were okay). We’ll be coming out with a few
locations so you can join the ride should you not be able to make
Bedford or Corydon.
