Introduction

Our aims

The Glocal Forum is first and foremost a networking organisation. Our work empowers cities to realize local and global development.

We are the leading international organization in the field of city-to-city cooperation for peace and development, emphasizing the central role of cities in international relations. We believe that mayors are in a position to mobilize the goodwill, energy and expertise of civic communities, to build an environment in which divisions and conflict can be overcome.

Our legal office is in Zurich, Switzerland, while the main operating office is in Rome, Italy. The US branch of the Glocal Forum was established in 2003 in Washington, D.C.

Our assets, finance and internal procedures are submitted to independent audit to ensure full compliance with the standards established for the non-profit sector in Switzerland.

Our mission

At the Glocal Forum we help people from countries around the world strike the balance between sharing the benefits of globalization and maintaining local autonomy. This is the glocal approach to managing global development.

We believe the creation of a network that links local resources, city leaders and young citizens to global resources and expertise is the key to fostering a balance between global growth and local needs. Creating links, growing networks, and preserving that balance is what we do.
