Musical Notes
FROM THE
DIREKTR
“Many hands make light work” is an old saying that is very true. I am sure that all of us have
experienced this first-hand when friends and family have helped us out – think moving, painting our
house, remodeling. This is something I experience every day with the people of FBC.
Our recent Christmas carol sing is an example of what can happen when people work together
for a common cause. I can’t even begin to list all the people that helped with planning, set up, moving
furniture, decorating tables, making food, serving food, and clean up. The best part of it all is that I
know that all I must do is ask and the call is answered! What a blessing!
The same is true for the musicians we have here. The month of December was extremely busy
for all the singers and ringers. When one bell ringer had to step away for a while, someone stepped in
to take his place. When discussing how we could find space for all the equipment and people, ideas and
suggestions were offered that solved the problem. When a different way of celebrating the Advent sea-
son was brought forth, everyone gave it their all. What a blessing!
As we look back on 2018, we can remember some wonderful musical pieces that truly made the
word of God come alive for people. We can look back and see how far we have come in our personal
and corporate musical growth. More importantly, we can look forward to a new year, new ideas, new
experiences, and perhaps, new members in our groups. What a blessing!
May 2019 be the year that you decide to be blessing in a new way!

3Gs TAKE WINTER BREAK Our annual Christmas Party was a huge suc-cess. We had 27 people in attendance and all had a great time at the Brass Key Restaurant. Thanks to Lorna for all her work in both put-ting the event together and decorating the pri-vate room we had. We had the chance to fel-lowship and eat (all the food – soup, steak sandwich, grouper, sirloin tips, chicken, and cheesecake – was terrific) and enjoyed having Regional Executive Minister Marie Onwubu-ariri’s parents with us to welcome in the Christmas season. Here’s a photo of the group (taken by Maggie):
Due to the inclement weather we normally experience at this time of year, our group will be taking a winter break. But we will be re-suming our activities when spring rolls around. So keep an eye out, both here and in the weekly bulletin, for our 2019 activities. And if you have an idea for something you think the group would enjoy doing, just let Ted, Jr., know.

Historical Reflections: Historical Reflections: Historical Reflections: Historical Reflections: Big action from 1928 Big action from 1928 Big action from 1928 Big action from 1928
The First Baptist Church of Greenfield, our official name in
1928, made decisive moves ninety years ago in a period of pros-
perity. As the West Allis population had quickly grown, our
Church membership grew as well. After years of planning and de-
laying due to The Great War and funding issues, we finally made a
decision to
build a new
sanctuary on the lots we had purchased in 1911. The building
was more austere than initial concepts and retained the origi-
nal church structure.
The old Church
facing Summit Ave-
nue, now Lapham Street, had wood frame construction be-
fore bricks covered it to match the new
building.
Bids were out and received before
contracts were signed. Construction
began, and then……., and then ….. we
had not anticipated the unexpected
event that came.
[Due to space restrictions, this story continues next month.]
This is the 21st

torical articles.
