THE FLYER is a monthly Digital Magazine
of the Olympic Peninsula Bluebills. The Bluebills are
a Boeing-supported Retiree and Friends Volunteer Program
SEPTEMBER, 2013 editor: CYNDYANN
JOYNER
As summer is coming to an end it is time that
we start looking for volunteers to take over some of the duties that keep the Bluebills running. We need to fill the positions as follows:
Anyone that would be good enough to become a candidate for the elective offices (Chair, Vice Chair, Second Vice Chair), or volunteer for the Social positions will get lots of help learning the ropes. One of the problems we still have not corrected is reporting the hours we put in on the Bluebill jobs. In June we reported to Seattle 668 hours with 43 volunteers on 51 jobs.
The question is how we track the time on the job. Are we putting in the time to go to the job and to get back home? If you have any questions on what to report PLEASE contact one of the officers. Maybe we need to have the hours reported by the person in charge for the total hours. Help! See how Rod Harp has shown the statistics for his Sequim Builders report on Page 7.
Oktoberfest is almost upon us. We will be celebrating our 15th year as an organization. This should be a real time to realize what we have done
in the community in all these years

This award is presented to Amy and John in recognition of
their support of Bluebill's Word Vision Distribution Program.
In the ten years that Bluebills have been running this
program, John and Amy have made countless trips to the
Word Vision warehouse in the Seattle area to pick up
goods and have made dozens of deliveries to clients in
Kitsap, Jefferson and Clallam Counties. Amy has also
served as our Representative to CEA, helping to forge a
partnership that helps our communities in many ways.

ROD HARP 16 HOURS 45 MILESMr. Rodney Harp, I would like to
take this opportunity to Thank you,
Bluebills and it's volunteers for
building the wheel chair ramp at my
dad's home. The teamwork and
construction of the ramp was first
rate. The example of this team
work began early on even before
the start of work on the project.
Through shared thoughts and ideas
they worked together and found a
simpler design for the ramp saving
both time and materials. As my
father's caregiver it has been a
great challenge caring for him with
the added difficulties of him being
wheel chair bound at this time of his
life. The ramp which your group has
built will help a great deal in caring
for him. As well as easing the
physical demands on me. Please
know that all of your time and efforts
is greatly appreciated.Sincerely,
The Client

Hello Oly-Pen:!
This very nice thank you message came into the Bluebills office here in Seattle and I would love to take credit for all the good wishes but felt that you all deserve it more than we do.!
It must be a wonderful feeling to know that you have made such a difference in someone’s life and in this case it is two other people you have helped.! Keep up the good work.

Teri Wensits, Program Coordinator at Catholic Community Services,
Clallam County is the connector for us to serve those in need. She is always available , work phone, cell phone or email. Sometimes I just drop by there and have a cup of joe and ask her questions I may have. As a builder for Bluebills, she makes my job much easier. She has a great energy for reaching out to the community. Hugs and two thumbs up for a lady who is so valuable to those in our community who are in need. ROD HARP

Thank you, Boeing
Bluebills for helping.
Flying under the
fanfare and attention
are a group of retired
Boeing engineers that
call themselves the
Bluebills. This group
of volunteers
performs acts of
for the less
fortunate and
able, of which I
am one.
Having been
housebound for
the last eight
months, unable
to negotiate the
stairs, you can't
image my joy of
just being
"outside," using
the ramp
professionally
designed and
built by the
Bluebills for no
charge.
It is with deep
gratitude and
sincere thanks
that I wish to
acknowledge the
Bluebills. You
have dramatically
improved my
quality of life."
Signed Greg

Townsend
Jack,
I just want to say, thanks
so very much to you and
Team Bluebills!! This so
transforms my life. After
being house bound since
January just being outside
looks like new life to me!!!
Absolutely a first rat job!
Please forward these
heartfelt thanks to your
crew.
All the best,
The Client

The M-Bar-C Ranch is located
on Whidbey Island just outside
of Freeland. Situated on 60
acres of rolling pasture land.
The facilities provide both
activity and at the same time a
peaceful respite for those who
visit. The Ranch is owned and
operated by The Forgotten
Children's Fund whose
mission is to be mindful of
those children who are
experiencing hardship due to
income level, illness, injury, or
disability. It is their mission to
do what they can to make
these children’s happier and
more meaningful. The
Forgotten Children’s Fund is an
all volunteer organization and
retains no salaried employees.

For the second year, a number
of mothers, children, and staff
from Dove House travelled to
Whidbey Island recently to
enjoy a day at the M Bar C
Ranch, which is sponsored
by the Forgotten Children’s
Fund in King County.
BLUEBILL DOVE HOUSE
VOLUNTEERS Betty
Faulkner and Barbara
Berthiaume also
accompanied the group.
Dove House is the first
organization on the
Peninsula to utilize this
amazing resource.
Activities included
horseback riding, a wagon
trip to the beach, a western
town complete with a fort, a
jail, and a wardrobe room
where kids dressed up in
western outfits. They had
lunch and played in the
activity room and were
given stuffed animals to
take home. The M Bar
C Ranch gave Dove
House a box of games
to take home. A good
time was had by all and
there were very tired
children on the bus ride

Appreciation Award Presented to
Community Enrichment Alliance
This award is presented to CEA in recognition of their support for the Bluebill’s World Vision Distribution Program.
With the help of your funding, Bluebills are able to represent
fifteen agencies and pick up four truckloads of goods each month from World Vision in Seattle. Bluebills distribute these items to over eighty churches, schools and non-profits in Jefferson, Kitsap, Clallam and Mason Counties.
CEA and Bluebills have forged a great partnership over
the years and this appreciation award is long overdue.
Thanks to each CEA member.
