PRESIDENTS NOTES
Here it is March and April already and I would like to say thank you to all the
clubs that sent in their Public Liability forms so quickly.
It will soon be Annual Raffle time again so please clubs try your best to sell all
your tickets.
By now all Slimmer of the Year forms should be in and it would be nice to see
clubs make a special effort to support their entrant on the day. If your entrant is
unable to attend, then make sure there is someone to represent her.
On Friday the 22nd Feb, Sheila and I attended the 25th Birthday celebrations of
Moore River club. What a day! The venue was great and all the effort that went
into setting up the day with photos of all the past and present graduates –
placemats-flowers and floral buckets for all. It was unbelievable. Moore River
has always been outstanding in what they do but this day was lovely. Thank
You.
A big thank you also to Jae, Dot and the committee. We felt very special on the
day.
WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR A HOST CLUB FOR THE COUNTRY FORUM!!!
City members love the weekend away so watch this space for more news on
this.
Hope you are making small goals for your loss each month but don’t expect too
much from yourselves-small losses are best and I still think the 5/2 is still the
best way to go.
P.S Please ring the office before attending to make sure we are there as times
can change due to circumstances.
Thanks.
Till next time
Aileen
SORRENTO WEIGHT WATCHERS
We have had a change to our committee with our Treasurer Suzanne becoming
our President after Vanessa retiring as President. She was presented with roses
🌹 and thanked for stepping in after the loss of our much-loved past President
Mikki Hill who passed away. This club is very lucky with Vice President Teresa
now our new Treasurer as there are always people willing to step up.
A group of ladies attended the 50th
Anniversary function which was a credit to
Aileen, Shirley and ladies.
President Suzanne presented our new
“Princess” Kay, with her prize after losing
weight four weeks in a row and taking
over from Sandi who was our previous
“Princess”.
All members love the club and are very
grateful to our wonderful Dee, our weight
recorder of many years, for her
commitment to the club and all the other
weekly things she does so well.
We are planning new competitions within the club with new incentives which
are always needed to motivate our members.
We enjoy the monthly magazine, hearing the news and getting inspiration from
other clubs and we love reading out the jokes to finish our meetings. A special
thanks to all those who put the Newsletter together for us each month.

BUSSLETON WASPS
Hello for the first time this year.... I'm back...... Not weighing in much lighter - yet - but all good things come to those who wait (weight). We are all in fine fettle to date and last week Isabell was able to
minus her score card by 2kg! Obviously, I'm in the wrong body this year. 🏋️ "Why am I getting older and wider instead of older and wiser " Well, I know the answer to that. I sneaked a whole KitKat, given to me by one of my grandies, and didn't feel one scrap of guilt , till I'd eaten the very last bit!! My conscious now dictates I recommence the 5 & 2 as suggested by Dr Michael Moseley. I do know that this works for me just need determination. Events in Busselton have taken over the place since Christmas. Now that the cruise ships park off from the jetty our town is even more busy. Special market stalls to provide them with entertainment, lovely things to buy, lots to eat
🍿and all the information they can absorb. Meanwhile our skills in parking have improved many times over and we are quite artful in nipping into a vacant space
🚘 Now we have a Puma too (no this is not a paid ad!) and a fresh fruit & veg place too. Wonder what's next. Our lovely ladies still enter our meeting room with trepidation, but this mostly turns to smiles after the deed is done! Even watches and bracelets come off. After all, every little bit counts or doesn't count as the case may be. A snippet of conversation overheard in the aisle while shopping..."The only reason I'm fat is because a tiny body can't store all this personality!!" Soon be Easter and goodness knows the shops aren't short of hot cross buns are they. Just hope I don't fall victim to another KitKat..... Kind regards Valerie hon sec /treasurer
BYFORD DAY TIME WEIGHT WATCHERS This year is moving along fast with March nearly over. I hope you are all settling down to seriously losing weight. Keith is our slimmer of the year with a loss of 20.2 kg. Congratulations Keith, you have worked hard. In the Main Group, King Keith won our Queen of the month with a loss of 2.8 kg, Princess Babs came second with a loss of 2.4 kg, and Princess Cath was third with a loss of 2.2 kg. Well done congratulations to you all. In the Grads we had a tie for first place with Queen Margie and King Alan varying by 0.2 kg, and Princess Brenda varying by 0.3 to be third. Back in June last year, I (Cath) started the 8-week Blood Sugar Diet (as described in a book of that name) by Dr Michael Mosley. After a good weight loss in the initial 8 weeks, and under my Doctors guidance, I am continuing the principals of the diet and have now lost 17.6 kg.
I write down what I eat and keep my calories to between 800 and 1000 per day. Very occasionally I have gone a bit higher. I now need to use only 1/3 of the daily amount of Insulin and a lot of my clothes I haven’t been able to fit into for about 10 years are now getting loose. My general health has improved
immensely. This book is available at most book shops. It is important to read the whole book before starting this diet and consult your Doctor first, especially if you have a medical condition. See you next month, Take care, Cath
"C" is for Copying
“If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you
want and copy what they do, and you'll achieve the same results.”
Tony Robbins
It’s simple, isn’t it? Then why is losing weight such a big issue for many of us. Weight loss clubs are full of people who want to shed weight, become healthier and live longer. They attend every week for their weigh-in, support and dose of healthy lifestyle information. Each week information comes informing them of the do’s and don’ts of successful weight loss. But, how many of us achieve the results we desire? And, why not? You drive down the street and see a slight built body walking to the shops and think, “Why can’t I look like that?”. Answer: Because you are driving, and they are walking. What do you say when your best friend, who has so much energy and looks so well, invites you to her free 6 a.m. exercise group? Answer: “I couldn’t possibly get up that early. I’m retired and don’t have to be up early any more. Isn’t there a free class later in the morning, like ten o’clock?” You sit in your local coffee shop looking enviously at the grandmother whose skin is positively glowing with health and vitality and ask yourself, “Why can’t I look like that?” Answer: Because the grandmother is having a simple cup of tea and a piece of fruit while in front of you is a Mocha Frappuccino (500 Calories) and slice of cheese cake with caramel sauce (1600 Calories). Do you get the picture? Some of us say we want to lose weight but are only willing to do it on our terms. We are negotiating with success, but we don’t have that right. You can’t negotiate with success because you must do all that is required to succeed, not a bit that is required. Tony Robbins hit the nail on the head. Stop doing the things that don’t work. If you want to lose weight and be healthy then you must do what slim and healthy people are doing. You must copy those who are what you want to be… From the Weight Reduction Club Queensland Newsletter

BELMONT WEIGHT WATCHERS After our holiday weight gain, I’m pleased to say that the club is back on track.
Our grads are all maintaining their goal weights and although we have individual
variations, the club is doing well. Shirley, Sue, Anne and Andrew got 4-week loss
daisies and Julie H received a ribbon for her first 4-week loss. Joyce was Grad of
the Month for January. Well done to all!
Welcome to new member Helen. As we’ve had several new members join, I
started wondering how they heard about our group. Most came with a friend or
relative. Some were guests at our Biggest Morning Tea. I originally went to an
evening club, left for a few years and joined Belmont after retiring, but I can’t
remember how I first heard about the Weight Watchers Federation. We all want
to build membership so how do we get the word out?
On 26 February club members
dressed in red and hosted a
surprise morning tea for President
Linda who received an award from
the Australian Red Cross Blood
Service for her 500th donation.
What an amazing accomplishment!
We celebrated the birthdays of Clare, Ros T-B and Bev and enjoyed pancakes
the week after Shrove Tuesday – a bit late but still appreciated.
We haven’t had an inter-club competition for a while but that will change after
Easter as Belmont and Moore River engage in a friendly contest. Good luck to
both clubs!
Regards Linda
GREENWOOD WEIGHT WATCHERS
We are all looking forward to the “Slimmer of the Year” in April. Many club members have been losing the kilos so there’s a new enthusiasm to move forward in departing with the unwanted weight. We had two volunteers from the “Stroke Foundation” we all found it all very enlightening and would recommend them for a visit to other clubs. Club members presented Heather Paton with our club shield for “Greenwood’s Slimmer of the Year 2019” Congratulations Heather! you will be our representative in the “Federations Slimmer of the Year for 2019.” Kind Regards Susan

HOW TO FIND TIME TO LIVE A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
If you keep telling yourself you don’t have time, you never will. You may have heard the saying “what we
focus on expands.” If you focus on your weight and get obsessed by the numbers on the scales guess
what, they never seem to move. But if you shift your focus to becoming healthy things start to change.
So, let’s look at some ways to find time to live a healthy lifestyle.
Find time to eat healthy food
• Write a menu plan. Make a list of your evening meals for the week and shop the ingredients.
• Get organised. Set aside a few hours each week to do things to support you through the week. Cook at least one meal for a day when you know you won’t have time.
• Start small. If you get overwhelmed about the idea of being healthy, start with one thing. For example, if you know you’re not having your five serves of salad and veg a day, work on this for the next few weeks.
• Have a list of healthy snacks. Many people tell me that snacking is their weakness, you’ll find the Healthy Snack Bible on my website a great tool to help with this.
• Try something new. Don’t be boring with your meals. There are hundreds of recipes in my cookbooks, why not try a new recipe each week.
Find time to exercise
• Start early. Have your clothes laid out ready, so when that alarm goes off you can get dressed and head out the door before the excuses start in your mind.
• Schedule it in. If early mornings are a little crazy at your house, schedule exercise for later in the day. Write it in your diary and don’t be tempted to skip it; treat it like an important appointment – because it is!
• Involve the family. If you have young children in your care, take them with you. Take a ball or stop and push them on the swings, you’ll soon feel your heart-rate rise even doing this.
• Find 10 minutes. There are plenty of workouts on YouTube, find something to suit your level and give it your best for the full 10 minutes. Or try skipping for 10 minutes, then you’ll know that you can do a workout in 10 minutes.
• Make it fun. Let’s face it, if exercise is not fun, we’ll use every excuse in the book to avoid it. Think about what you enjoy doing and look for ways to use it to get your heart rate up.
The bottom line is, we make time for what matters. Does your health matter to you? If it does, then make
time to eat healthy food and exercise each day. Because you’re worth it!
