Towards the Podium, 2017 onwards

Qualifying a rider forOlympic Games

was one of our goals whenwe formed the team.

We have achieved it withinthree years.

We now set our sights onbecoming morecompetitive and

reaching forthe podium.

Seeing the realisation of one our riders, Phetetso Monese, lining up withthe world’s best riders at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games was a proudmilestone for our team.

Now that we have achieved one of our initial goals of qualifying a rider forOlympic Games, it is time to set our sights on higher achievements andbecoming more competitive.

For the period 2017-2022, our goals are: -

• To achieve a ranking of at least top 20 team in the world.

• To achieve qualification of at least two riders for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

• To achieve a gold medal performance at African Continental Championship.

• To achieve a podium/ medal performance at Durban 2022 Commonwealth Games.

About Us:ACE Lesotho MTB Team is a UCI MTB Team with a difference. The purpose of theteam is to identify cycling talent from the developing nations of Africa, particularlyLesotho, and give those riders an opportunity to cycle on the world’s biggest MTBstages. We have a proven record of seeing young riders aspiring to big dreams, developing self-confidence and rising above the poverty and hopelessness that theywere born into. Four of the current team members have lost either one or bothparents, which is not uncommon in a country with such a high HIV/AIDS rate.

The Mountain Kingdom of LesothoLesotho has great potential to produce good MTB riders. Its high altitude, mountaintopography and climate is an ideal breeding ground for champions. The high-altitude areasof Ethiopia and Kenya have historically produced great runners and Colombia is now yieldingbrilliant cyclists with a good power to rate ratio and natural VO2 max. There is justifiedoptimism to believe that Lesotho can produce world class athletes in the future if given theright support.

Great Brand AmbassadorsOUR TEAM IS DIFFERENT! We stand out from the rest of the crowd and provide your brandwith great ambassadors. The polite and courteous upbringing of our riders leads them to benatural appreciative and loyal ambassadors. The stunning scenery of Lesotho, which isrenowned for its harsh nature, also provides a great backdrop for you to highlight your brand.History of SuccessSince the team was formed in 2014, we have remained as the first and only African teamto be licensed as an International Cycling Union Mountain Bike Team and to competein World Cup/ World Championship level competition. Despite our lowly beginnings,we currently rank inside the top 40 teams in the world. Fresh from competitionat RIO 2016 Olympic Games qualification , we now set our sights towards GoldCoast 2018 Commonwealth Games and Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
